I tried putting distilled water in the humi device in my cigar caddy and it didnt work too well, the humidity was way too high.
I'd just put a water pillow in it, or some beads. If the cigars are only in there for a day or two than I wouldn't worry about using any humidification, just dont open it up too much.
they're going to be in for 2 weeks, going to Punta Gorda, FL. i'll probably order beads when i get back. i was also thinking of getting a DryMistat HumidiTube.
A water pillow should work then.
I just took out the foam that was in the little puck humidifier, put a small piece of screen in the bottom and then filled it with beads. For my large (50 ct.) one I am getting tubes for some beads and will put a couple of those in there.
For a couple of weeks, I agree that a water pillow will work fine.
spiffy
i have water pillows, but i got the HumidiTube. it fits better in the case.
Ive got a 15ct cigar caddy, with a Puck 50 in it. I just cout out some of the foam on the lid, and stuck it to that.
I use nothing in mine if I will be gone a few days. For longer trips, use a viper humidity sheet. Cut to whatever size, leave them in your humi to keep them charged and then pop em in the traveling unit. They take up the least amount of space and you get the "absorb and release" benefits of beads :smiley20:
haven't tried the sheets yet
