    Default 5000th post contest

I kinda liked the picture scavenger hunt that we did for MR5, so I'm going to base is on that.

    Rules:
    1) No asshats, please.
    2) Members with a join date older than mine, you have to get 10 pics
    2) Members with a join date older than 6 months from today, you have to get 7 pics
    3) Members with a join date less than 6 months from today, and more than 50 posts, you only have to get 5 pics.

You yourself don't have to be in the picture, but I wanna see a cigar lit or unlit somewhere in the frame.

The pictures are based on interests of my life 'cause it's my contest.

    List of pictures:
    1) A motorcycle from the 80s or older
    2) A picture with 5 different Padron cigars
    3) A house older than 1920
    4) A prestressed concrete bridge
    5) An Appalachian trail placard
    6) A big pile of hand washed dishes
    7) A mustang (full scale car)
    8) A 1/2 barrel of beer
    9) Some amount of coal
    10) Some craft your wife made.
    11) A boxcar (any scale)
    12) Engineering computation paper
    13) Kids toys (at least 3 items strewn about)
    14) Hardwood floors (not the urban dictionary variety. Actual floors that you walk on)
    15) A 6" or greater joiner
    16) A cassette tape
    17) A coal stove older than 1900
    18) A painting by your kid
    19) A motherboard, uninstalled
    20) A piano

Winner gets a nice fiver from my stash.

    Will

Bonus: A picture with a 36" or greater swing metal lathe gets an extra cigar!

Wait a sec... are you referring to the diameter of the piece you are able to chuck into the lathe or the distance from the chuck to the spindle?

The swing relates to the diameter of the piece you are able to chuck.

Yep, that's a biggun. I have a previous client who I'm pretty sure has one. He is a machinist...obviously. Probably couldn't get to his shop until next week, and I would hope someone will have won by then.

And Will, thanks for the contest...good one too.

Just spoke with my buddy about this, and one of his several lathes goes up to 48". He also told me about a shop that is less than a mile from my office that does aircraft tooling. One of theirs goes up to 10 FEET.

The used to use vertical lathes to make the crankshafts for battleships. Those are impressive.

Looks like we have a winner, although I've seen way bigger piles of dishes.

If I get around to it, I'll make a set of pics for this thread from around here.

    Congrats heftyschmokes!

Upon further investigation, I have noticed that there is actually not a single "dish" in that picture.

If course there isn't; they're in the dishwasher. What are we, some kind of animals?

You'll have to take it up with the judge
