Default A Man On A Mission - Join Me If You Dare

I am on a mission to smoke Cigar Aficionado's Top 25 Cigars of 2015 by end of year 2016. It's the journey, not the destination. :)

If anyone wants to try this enticing quest please chime in!

    Some quick fun facts:

    Cubans = 3
    Nicaraguan Puros = 6
    Dominican Puros = 1
The rest = 15 assorted regions

There are some very interesting smokes in this lot. I'll begin researching prices and availability now.

    Who's "Top 25" list?

Actually I guess I really don't care because my "Top 25" list is going to be different from darn near everyone else's in the world and I really don't care what they (or anyone) thinks is the "Top 25" because that can be a function of who's paying someone off or who has a personal or financial interest in it.

I would simply suggest the old adage "Smoke what you like and like what you smoke."

Cigar Aficionado 2015 Top 25. I think it will be interesting and along the way have some good smokes I would have otherwise not tried.

I'm sure you are right concerning financial interests and other factors. I'm on a simple quest to smoke the list.

Sad, but true - a well known fact. The list is affected by financial influences...

However - while there are some doggone good smokes on that list, to CC's point - don't give into the hype. Smoke what you like - there are a LOT of great cigars that are NOT on that list!

It sounds like a fun plan to me, regardless. Like collecting patches in boy scouts, or West Point brass. You could make a picture frame with the bands.

Now that's a cool idea for the man cave or bar!

While I'm not looking for Boy Scout patches or medals, like I said, I think it will be an interesting and tasty adventure. I'm two smokes into the list and they were certainly great. OTOH I am sure there will be some I don't care for.

The Ashton Symmetry was an excellent smoke that I wish was less expensive.

:) The picture frame idea sounds good.

All of your comments make me wonder if a better question to ask is "what are your goto smokes?" from members of this board. I bet that would be a damn good list of recommendations.

Absolutely true! I'm aware the list "is what it is". I'm just going to have fun with it and smoke some sticks I may never have tried.

    Okay, I'll start:

Opus X - the small ring ones, Perfexcion #4 & #5. I also like the Fuente Fuente and if I have time, the Reserva d' Chateau
    Añejo - 48, 60
    Davidoff Gran Cru #2
    Davidoff Double R
    Davidoff Aniversario #3
    Saint Luis Rey Serie A
    Padron 1964 - any
    Padron 1926 - any
    TBSCigars - "On Holiday"

I have only had 1 Davidoff and I do not know why. It was very good. I know they have a sampler that looks pretty nice, I assume that would be a good place to start to explore the brand. I think I'll get that soon and see what all the fuss is about.

I would like to start a separate thread called "What are your goto smokes?" if no one objects. You all let me know what you think.

    Thanks

I'm thinking of "a list" from members instead of what they smoked today. Today's smokes may be something they never try again or that would not make a "goto" list.

    See what CoventryCat posted above.

    Anyhoo, just an idea.

Yes, I read the whole thread. I'm just saying I could have listed CC's go-to's because those three are about all he ever posts on "today's smokes"

My humi's and coolers have long since morphed to nothing but go to smokes.
My list would most likely bore the shit out of you.
