I know this can be a common issue and if it's not, would certainly make it harder to keep your RH stable.

    Welcome to the board btw.
Good question I've been asking myself the past few days.

To test if yours is sealing properly, hold the lid open about an inch and let it go suddenly. It should not just slam shut if the lid is sealing properly. Due to increased air pressure inside, the lid would slow and drop into place more gently than you would expect if it's sealing right. Also, if it's sealing properly you will hear a little hiss of air leaving under a bit of pressure.

Try that a couple times with yours. Does the lid just slam shut? If it does, and you're not hearing a hiss of air as it closes, then your humidor probably isn't sealing properly.

I'm a big fan of coolerdors.

As your collection grows, you'll outgrow your fancy, expensive humidors and wind up with a bunch of 120 quart coolerdors with beads.

    That's all ya need!

I'm lucky, my 26' x 30' finished basement which I've mentioned in previous posts, is almost a natural walk-in humidor. It never gets below 58°F in the winter or above 64°F in the summer and the humidity hovers around 60% so I don't even need humidors or coolerdors, LOL!

I have coolerdors but I haven't added water to my humidification beads in over ten years.
