Sandy Denny, The Lady. The only woman to have recorded with Led Zeppelin. Robert Plant said she was the greatest British singer he had ever heard. Her version of "The Ballad of Easy Rider" is in my opinion the best ever. Tragically, she died at 31, two days after falling down a flight of stairs in 1978. Joplin, Hendrix, and Morrison had little effect on me, but this one hurt.
