A buddy of mine was married Friday night in a vineyard near charlottesville and Heather and I attended it. It was an amazing experience. It sort of put a lot of stuff into perspective. Seeing the level of excitement on my friend and his bride really brought me back to what weddings are all about. The whole event was fantastic, the venue was impecibly put together, the parents of both TJ and (his) Heather were beaming and TJ/Heather were on cloud 9. It made me forget about all of the hassel and disagreements one (specificly me) can have during the planning stages and showed me what the end product can be. In a way, TJ's wedding was almost like like someone sent me one of those cards that i sent last weekend. There wedding helped motivate, focus and remind me on why I'm doing this in the first place. Well, 3 weeks from today and I'll be in TJ's shoes, thank God!

My wife and I did the same thing about a month and a half before our wedding. We went to another couple's wedding - and didn't so much enjoy it as take notes, to see if they were doing anything cooler at their wedding, to rip-off or incorporate into our wedding. It worked well, we got a better understanding of timing and flow of events, but it was just funny going to a wedding with a different perspective than we normally would.

I feel your pain man. I am getting married on the 28th of March and we are just a few weeks away. Her parents are divorced. Her dad cheated on her mother for years with the woman who is now his 3rd wife. To make matters more complicated she is a raging alcoholic with so many psych issues she can't be trusted not to talk about her vibrating panties. You think I am kidding... But I am not. Seriously... And of course she has to be there.

Our wedding was awseome, but in all seriousness, the money could have been better spent on so many other things. But, unless your footing the bill, its not your to argue about.

Vibrating panties, huh? Wow, the rehersal dinner is going to be one for the books.

Some of you guys are talking like the groom has a SAY in the matter.

I had no idea how much went into wedding plans. Call me twitterpated, but I just wanted THROUGH the damn thing with as few casualties as possible. Lucky for us, we didn't have much money at all, but had people volunteer places and services for us.

I second the Vegas spot as well. Preferably in a drive-through church. Preferably with Elvis presiding.

This thread caught my eye because I too am now in the middle of the wedding planning fiasco.

Luckily fo me, my inlaws are quite traditional and wealthy, so I pay for nothing.

But what a bewildering series of events a wedding is!! We haven't even picked a venue yet and already my fiance' is losing it.

We must have looked at 100 different places, all of which my opinion was asked, and subsequently ignored. (which is fine because it doesn't matter to me.)

And everyone had something wrong. Too small a dance floor. The grounds look shabby. I don't like the menu.

    ARRRRG!!

This is going to be a long year!!!

Yeah... But your soon to be inlaws at least seem to like each other. With all the infidelity of her father and the wives/mistresses that want to be involved it is a nightmare. She has been in tears every night about all this fighting.

Just wait ..... it gets better (or worse) depending on the "glass is half empty/half full" outlook you have.

It's not me I'm worried about. It's my lady that worries me!!

The only time my wife would have me worried is "if" I ever cheated on her. She knows how to shoot all my guns.
