    Default Gin

I noticed that some of you like to drink Gin with your cigar. How do you take it? On the rocks, neat or with tonic?

I like Gin and Tonic, with extra lime.

Back when I bartended there was an old British guy who came in and ordered a Pink Gin. I had to ask him what was in it...Gin and bitters (angostura).

Not a lot of work involved in mixing that one.

Back in the day, I used to enjoy Bombay Sapphire with just ice. Gin straight can be pretty powerful stuff. It creeps up on you and then- Bam!

The wife and I were playing Monopoly with some family and friends one New Years Eve and I was drinking Sapphire straight. I thought I had things in check- "sipping" by my definition. Midway through the game (probably after buying Boardwalk- lol), I passed out - head straight down on the card table. Woke up several hours later thinking to myself: "WTF?"

Gin with just ruby red grapefruit juice is good. These seem to compliment each other well without getting the nasty sweetness most mixed cocktails provide.

I must say that I never really got into any sort of Gin drink with cigars. The Juniper Berry (giving Gin it's distinct taste I think) always seemed to overpower or distract from the tobacco taste.

LOL, my dad always told me the way to make a good gin martini was to pour in the gin and then just whisper "Vermouth" over the top of the glass.

The only use I've ever had for Gin is a Gin and Tonic, and I don't like citrus with cigars.

My new favorite, is an old favorite, the Manhattan. Good Bourbon over ice, a splash of sweet Vermouth, a dash of bitters, and a Maraschino cherry.

Bittersweet, smoky, and good with a Maduro.

    alright Mr. Churchill....

anyway, I don't enjoy Gin as much as Vodka, and yes i realize they are the same thing but gin has some extra spices in it, whatever. I feel that the purity of vodka makes it nicer to mix with things. My favorite things to mix with are cranberry juice or red grapefruit juice. I find that both are sweet and yet tangy and makes a nice drink.

Well, I tried this on my b-day.......gin/tonic/lime........fantastic. I really enjoyed the crisp clean taste between pulls on my cigar. I picked up a bottle of Seagrams Lime gin......I'm gonna try that one straight up with ice and see what happens. Maybe I'll hit up the drunken review thread this weekend.
