Thread: Newb to cigars and the community

  1. Default Newb to cigars and the community

Hey all, I am 21 and just got into cigars after a buddy let me have one at a trip up to Santa Cruz. I just loved the relaxation and fantastic 'woody' aftertaste it left. I am currently looking online into getting a 100 count humidor and will soon begin my own collection. I am not really sure what is good but will definitely try out samplers and other packs. To start off, I guess I would like you guys to recommend some "creamy" brand cigars which have a creaminess to them, medium flavored and that won't put me in debt.

thanks and hello to all aficionados!

    Welcome from Canada.

I'd suggest taking a look at the newbie sampler thread in the Exchange part of the board as a good way to load that humidor that you have on the way.

And as for "creamy" cigars, the Don Tomas Cameroon fits the bill nicely, IMHO.
Just a stay at home dad (retired until I choose otherwise, thanks Canadian Army medical pension) hanging out and enjoying the good life.

Hey man from one newb to another, try the newb sampler thread in the exchange section. I just did a deal this past memorial day and ended up with some amazing smokes. Also, save the money on the 100 ct humidor and buy a cooler, and then more smokes!

Everyone kept mentioning do the 'coolerdor' instead of buying a high count humidor when I first joined, now I two small 20ct humidors, and a couple of small rubbermaids.... Should've saved myself the effort and went straight for a cooler.

    Anyways, Welcome from Kansas!

    Welcome from CA.

As far as "creamy" cigars that are moderately priced, I would try the Oliva Serie V's, the Hoyo De Monterey Excaliber's (Connecticut wrapper might be more mellow than the maduro wrapper), and the Padron Thousand Series. Or just go to the local shop and ask them for some recommendations. They're usually pretty good about pointing you in the right direction. Good luck!

Welcome, stick around and you'll find a lot of useful information. Save your $$ and go with a coolidor. It's cheaper to upgrade to a bigger unit (and you will). Unless if you need a show piece.

Yep get a cooler. They are cheap and you can store hundreds in there. Oh get some heartfelt beads to humidify it. http://www.heartfeltindustries.com/

Welcome to the boards from Texas. Look into some Fuente Hemingway and Don Carlos line. Should be right up your alley.

Edit - I had to make a run up to the store for some after that post...

    Welcome from SW Pa!

As the others mentioned, look into a cooler and Heartfelt's beads. Even if you want to go with a humi now for looks, still consider a cooler for later.

And definitely check out the newbi sampler
    Yay! Cigars!
