Thread: Hot lighter = no flame?

Default Hot lighter = no flame?

I've been using a Colibri lighter that came free with a JR purchase (http://www.jrcigars.com/index.cfm?pa...ls_botb1_08no3). I've noticed that if I take too long lighting a cigar, the flame dies & refuses to relight until it cools off a bit. It can be freshly charged or not - it doesn't matter. I'm using Lucienne quadruple refined butane.

Usually it isn't much of a problem, but tonight it caused a bad light on a bigger cigar (54 ring) - has anyone else had this problem? Is the Colibri I got just a cheapie, or do other torch lighters have this problem? I don't want to fight with the lighter & cigar to get a good burn, but I also don't want to spend a lot on a lighter if I don't have to. Any suggestions?

I've got some Oliva Serie V's on the way & don't want to have a bad light on a cigar I've read so many good things about.

I haven't noticed this to be the case with my lighter. If anything, if mine gets too cold, it won't light. Then I have to keep it in my pocket or something to warm it up before it will light.

I always make sure I have some rock-steady matches around for such a situation.

Matches!? It was a non-thinking night I guess... I've got 12" matches for the bbq, but instead of doing the smart thing & grabbing one, I kept trying to spark the torch .
