    Default Curse that Newfie

    In a very good way..

A few weeks ago Newfie sent me a newbie ampler. since then I have been miserly dealing out these smokes, smoking them only when I can give them a proper amount of time to enjoy them..... Needless to say almost every week I have a new favorite Cigar!!.. I thought this sampler was to help me narrow down what I liked ......LOL......Actually it has, I truly enjoy the La Flor Dominicana double ligero and the Padrons...but I am only about 1/2 way through this sampler (I can't believe it's going to end)..
Now to the reason I am writing this.....I think Newfie is trying to mess with me.... Since I started down this road to cigar aficionadodom (LOL..long way to go) i have been keeping notes and trying to taste some the flavors that I have read about in some of the reviews, ...you know the dark chocolate touched with a tinge of nutmeg and slight woody high light etc.. ect....... anyways I could never taste these exactly but I thought that that was just my lack of taste..I did however know what I liked.......Last night I took out a romone allen 1837, Toro size I believe. It had a cedar sleeve. Right from the get go I knew something was different. I could smell a deep earthy odor before I unwrapped it. Once I had it unwrapped I could see the white bloom traces on this. From what I have read I know this meant the cigar was very old (aged). Once I lit it up I could taste chocolate and celery and earth ect ect....I was so wrapped up in enjoyment that I never kept detailed notes like I was planing to. Oh well......Now what am I going to do......I'm hooked.....worse yet how can I possibly wait two years to make a great smoke like that......curse that newfie........LOL...... Why did he have to send this to me.....

Seriously though this newbie sampler has been the best thing that could have happen to a newbie smoker like me. I now know a vast amount more that I did a few weeks ago and Newfie has probably saved me years of trial and error coupled with frustration...I am just not sure if I can let a box of cigars sit for a few years before I smoke them. I am going to try though. I couldn't believe how good this cigar was.

Once again a big thanks to Newfie and the rest of the aficionados on this site, this has been a wonderful experience and i still have more to try.
