This is an economical bundle cigar that was suggested to me by one of my locals. I have been on a kind of Cameroon kick lately so I was more than willing to give it a try. This is a new release from the 2008 IPCPR show. I couldn't find a very good description on-line so I have no info on binder/filler.
The construction of this cigar was very nice. It was uniformly firm with a well applied cap and nicely cut foot. The cut was effortless and resulted in a nice draw. Pre-light flavor was nice, nutty sweet cameroon and tobacco. I get a somewhat "dry" sensation from the pre-light, so I made sure to have a drink on hand....gin/tonic.
The light was nothing special, and the burn was very straight for the length of the smoke. The flavor was very nice in the opening 1/3 yielding the expected sweet, dry cameroon flavor. The strength was in the medium category, though I have read it classified a full-bodied.
There were no real surprises with this cigar, just a consistent sweet, nutty profile. No harshness and it never strayed from the medium strength/body profile for me. All in all a very enjoyable cigar that could become a regular weekday rotation smoke.....not a weekend treat, but a solid smoke none the less. It is nice to find a cameroon that is decently constructed with a nice profile at this price point.
I'll most likely pick up a few more, this is only my third one, to verify consistency....though for $2 a pop on-line I might just risk it on a bundle.
