As a teen I actually watched the birth of MTV and the first music video ever played on MTV.

Yea for the last few years, since around 2000 or so, MTV has been in a horrible downward spiral. It is horrible anymore, even MTV2 which is supposed to be nothing but vidoes, dosent eve play videos much anymore. VH1 used to be good, but has followed suit in the last couple years. I cant watch either anymore.

I can remember back during school, my early teens, before football, work, and everything else. Just sitting around me, my brother, and our friend watching music videos all day long during summer break when there was nothing to do. Good memories them.

I watched it at the same time. It's typical of the times that Music Television and Video Hits 1 no longer provide the service that they were built on ( that would be music videos )

PS: and that was a great song by the Buggles. although in retropect, the Radio Star is still alive while Video has gone on to other things!

I was also in the delivery room for the birth of music video... Robert Palmer, Thomas Dolby, Pat Benatar, that song "Mexican Radio", The Clash, Twisted Sister, Quiet Riot.... I could go on and on...

Men At Work, Thompson Twins, Flock Of Seagulls, that woman who sang Bette Davis Eyes. Fucking Devo. The rotations were short and that crap I think is imprinted on my brain. Oh, Patty Smythe (not to be confused with ultra badass Patty Smith), who I forget what she sang I just remember the colors/warpaint or something on her face.
