    Default And yet another newbie

So it seems a bit if a newbie Friday Howdy from the NW y'all! I smoked gas station cigars during highschool and got into better stock in college. I started with La Gloria and then onto La Unica and La Aurora. I took about ten years off with the occassional cigar once or twice a year. I bought a small 50 stick humi and two boxes of La Unica 500's. It's now barely two weeks later and I have a 100 stick humi coming, I just got a couple samplers, this one, this one, and this one, and I have a CAO Flavours Sampler & four Arturo Fuentes coming next week. My wife says I'm going overboard and didn't laugh as I did when I remarked I was just getting started

I tend to go for mild smokes. I want to try the CAO Gold and Rock Patel but I'm trying to wait until I've worked through the samplers a bit further in case I find something I want again. I had the Thompson Tusker earlier and found it to have more of a bite than I prefer. Not a wholly unenjoyable smoke but not one I'd repeat. I'm going for the either the CAO Brazilia or CAO Italie after I put my son to bed. I've been having about 3-4 sticks a week so far but I'm sure that will fluctuate. I'm thinking a coolerdor is the way to go since I don't plan to have them on display. I'm also a woodworker on the side and a nice, large custom humidor sounds pretty cool. I think I'll just whip out a simple carrying case and leave the major construction for after my schedule eases up.

Anyway, I love the site and y'all sure know a lot about ceegars

    What's up?

So, I'm procrastinating at work again, searching through the boards, and noticed that no one responded to your introduction. Sorry about that. THEN I searched your previous posts to see if you've been banned already. That hasn't happened, either. THEN I noticed that you mentioned in another thread where you stated something about Oregon taxes. Are you in Oregon now? Whereabouts? I'm about to leave, but I thought, for just a small period of time, that I'd say hello from a fellow statesman.

    Still filling that humi?

Wow, dang man, sorry we didn't properly welcome you, so, Welcome to the board from Kansas. The samplers look o.k., Thompsons cigar on the other hand doesn't have such a stellar reputation and deservedly so imho. I bought my first smokes and humidor from them before I learned better. At least you didn't get stuck with a crap load of their nasty house brands.

    Welcome from California.

It took me 7 weeks to get my first order from Thompson and then I made the biggest mistake of signing up for their club... Thank god I've moved since then and I don't get anymore of their annoying mailers and junk.

Oh well... as with all mistakes we live and learn

Welcome from MT. Sorry we missed ya.

I'm sure you've read elsewhere on the board, but in case you missed it, make sure you store those CAO flavours in tupperware or something away from the rest of your other cigars and humidor.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I've already filled my first 50 ct humi, filled the 100 ct, and am waiting on a 300 ct humi that's already about half spoken for. I'm definitely slowing down on my purchases now that I've stocked up but cigar bid has been a very dangerous place

I joined the Thompson club at first but quickly opted out after realizing what horrible prices they have. I didn't get any of their house brands having alreay had a bad experience with them years ago.

I read about keeping the flavoured cigars sequestered but, after working through the sampler, I don't think I'm going to get them again. They weren't painful or anything but definitely not what I prefer.

And no, buying anything consumable from craigslist is a bad idea, let alone the legal issues around tobacco sales. The only thing I get off craigslist is wood for my side projects.
