Thanks for all your advice. I'm kind of torn between throwing it out and giving it a shot. I'm kind of wanting to try to repair it just to see if I can.
Heftysmokes, I don't want to seem needy and looking for handouts, but since I'm a newbie, I may take you up on that offer!
I wouldn't have offered if I didn't want to.Go ahead and fire it up. If it doesn't smoke well or if you run into problems, then you can pitch it without a guilty conscience.

Try sliding the band down to where the split ends. I've done this before and sometimes it will help keep the split from running up the cigar as it expands.
