I've also been listening to a ton of the Black Keys of late. El Camino is a solid album.

    I like Nebraska a lot.

Nebraska is dark. It's also awesome. Seeing Springsteen live is on the bucket list.

Nice Badwhale! It's absolutely one of my favorite albums of all time. It just paints the perfect picture of the heartland.

Actually, it's "Early North Jersey industrial skyline..."

Springsteen, as far as I interpret it, is talking more about the rust belt than the tornado alley. Maybe just more a voice of the blue collar guy.

    I absolutely agree. 100%.

Wow, you have a pretty shitty view of the heartland. Mass murderers, dirty cops, and a generally bleak outlook make that one heavy album.

I think the only thing that points to the "heartland" is the name of the album.

I certainly never imagined the heartland as an inviting place. In my mind, and I might say bruce's too, it's a dark place where dreams are crushed and the working class is struggling just to get by. I probably could have chose my words better, or at least elaborated what I meant. I think the great thing about all of Bruce's albums, is the universal subject matter.

Plus, my idea of the heartlands has been forever tainted by movies such as "Badlands" and the "Indian Runner."

Funny you mention the Indian Runner. It's based on the song, "Highway Patrolman" from the Nebraska album.

Bummer you think so poorly of the heartland. I'm sure many in the "heartland" think the west coast is a good place to go for your dreams to be crushed and the working class have to struggle to get by.

There it is. Location is irrelevant. Theme is everything, and it's universal.
