I'm looking to build a cabinet humi. From what I can tell I'll prolly spend more doing it myself but I'm a woodworker by hobby and this is a good excuse for a project. Besides, the wife tends to open the check book for "learning" projectsThe seal seems like the toughest hurdle. I'm just starting out as far as cabnetry goes. I have the tools but not much know-how yet. What else should I be looking out for? I'm planning on a drawer at the top for loose cigars and maybe two. Then two or three shelves for boxes. I'm guessing 24-36" X 18" X 36-48" exterior dimensions. How thick should I be looking at for the cedar lining. I'm thinking active humidification so two internal outlets. Is that overkill? As for the exterior, I was thinking cherry but could also go with something like poplar or even oak and then veneer. Is there anything to be gained with solid wood vs veneer? Perhaps flexing and cracking the seems...This is a long term project but I want to get started as soon as the Xmas rush is over.

She comes back from the grocery store and says "Can't you just use a cooler or used mini fridge or something and spend the difference on filling it? Then you can go back to smoking them rather than babble about the damn cabnet!" So I have a 150 qt cooler & a pound of beads coming and a wad of cash for more cigars. Though the old ball and chain may hassle, hound, or generally nag her way sometimes, but she sure has great timing when choosing not to
