Default What is it about cigars and scotch?

It was a horrible day in a very busy week. Sitting down with a great single malt (Oban) and an Oliva Serie G melted it all away.

Agreed, a finger of scotch and a stogie are the cure all for life's worries.

I think it's about the sweetness in the drink, complementing the cigar. Other members on this board have commented about drinking something sweet while smoking, whether it be tea or soda. The fact that Oban is a bit sweet and smooth (as opposed to, let's say Beam's Five-Star Whiskey), makes it an enjoyable experience.

I would have to agree with the sweetness theory. Smoking a cigar and srinking scotch are, in and of themselves, very mellowing experiences. The combination is even better
