Thread: Howdy!

    Default Howdy!

What's up? This is the first cigar forum I've joined and I look forward to learning and maybe giving some advice as well. I figure to step up my game I gotta start rubbin shoulders with some real connoisseurs. I've smoked on and off for several years but started smoking on a regular basis about a year ago. It's amazing how many cigars you can smoke in a year! Not nearly enough though...

Some of my current favorites -

    Sancho Panza Dulcinea
    Sancho Panza Extra Fuerte
    CAO Italia, Box Pressed Only
Hoyo De Monterrey Hoyo de Tradicion Epicure
Carlos Torano Casa Torano Maduro Torpedo
    Indian Tabac Cameroon Legend
MAXX by Alec Bradley, silver band only
    Kristoff Maduro (freakin' yum)
    RP Vintage '90

I also enjoy the Yellow (DPG) CI Legends, Sabor Cubano, and an occasional Partagas Black. Not big into spice and ligero type tobacco, but that can always change. I've probably tried over 100 different cigars. I also have a 2nd favorites list that is probably twice as long as my favorites. If anyone has recommendations I'd love to hear them...

    Welcome from Ottawa, Canada!

    Suggestions:

    Padron

If you like the CI Legends Yellow, then try some true DPG-labelled sticks. Something like a DPG Serie JJ (white label) is just soo much better than the CI Legends IMHO.

Yeah, you're right. I bought the DPG 6 pack sampler from cigarsinternational (has this been referred to as the devil site by WOXOF? and I really enjoyed the JJ Maduro and the Cuban Classic. I think I got a bad white label JJ b/c it seemed dried out and wasn't very enjoyable. They're just too stinkin expensive at the local B&M (like $12 for the JJ). They don't seem to be much cheaper online after s&h. I try to stay in the $4-$7 price range for my regular smokes. I do need to revisit the Padron lines...

I think I read somewhere that the Cx2 is now a catalog exclusive - maybe Famous-smoke.com ? You don't want to know my opinion of the Cx2.

Cbid (SM) is good for five packs, cigarauctioneer.com (FS) is good for 10-packs and 2-box lots.

Daily deal sites like Joecigar.com (SM) or Cigarmonster.com (FS) often have DPG's between $3 and $4 for 10, and both are free shipping.

(SM = Swedish Match, owner of Cigar.com, CigarsInternational.com, JRCigars.com, as well as General Cigar, etc. etc. FS = Famous-smoke.com)

Besides what I've mentioned, in the $4-$7 price range: Oliva V, Fuente Hemingway.

I heard Pete Johnson (Tatuaje, made by DPG) is coming out with a lower-priced cigar.
