    Default I've been downsized!

Just got the word that starting tomorrow, I'm on what they refer to as "rotating layoff". Basically, I get a month off, the company files unemployment, continues paying my insurance, and I keep my tenure. After the month ends, I return, and the next round (3 people per round), takes their turn.

Very nice of them to do things the way they did, I guess!

More time to fish and smoke, I suppose, but the quality sticks will saved for better times.

That sucks. You're right though, better than being completely laid off.

Man. I tell ya, I haven't worked since October and I'm about to lose it. I've gotten to where I sleep 12 hours, then awake 12 hours. I've been working since I was 13 and have never had a gap like this. So make sure you got plenty to do to keep your mind going. I'm just glad to hear you still have a job especially in this time. I've never heard of a rotating lay off.

    Good luck.

It would be a perfect month to start homebrewing. You've got a lot of reading to do and plenty of time to do it.

Would have been nice to have Nov off for the rut. I remember when things got bad for me in the 80's. 7 days on racking up the overtime and 7 days off drawing unemployment. Wasn't too bad, but it would have been if I were salaried.

I second the homebrewing suggestion. Not only will it occupy your time, but it will save you some money as well, at least eventually.

Sorry to hear about the tough times, best of luck to you.

I would really like to say I have the funding to start homebrewing, but with things being tight already, I'm gonna have to put another hole in the belt.

Really sorry to hear this, Dennis. Good thing you've got that deer meat from last season to keep you fed! How are the fish biting where you are at?

Actually, this is prime fishing season for the Spotted Seatrout!

Very Delicious, and you don't need a boat if you know what you're doing... (surprisingly few locals really know how to load up on the trout)

Go get some of that trout. Sorry to hear about the layoff. I am glad to hear its fishing season though. if that was me hunting would of just ended with a big snow so I couldnt and that cold snap that put a thin layer of ice would of kept me from fishing lol. Good luck

    That sucks Dennis.

The company my father works for had to cut back on employee work hours also. But they just made the work weeks shorter. And the weeks rotate from 4 days on/3 days off to 3 days on/4 days off. It's been crazy all over.

    Best of luck.

    Dennis,

Sorry to hear about that. Never heard of a rotating layoff as well, BUT you know what, that's definitely way better than being layed off, period.

Good luck, and I hope it doesn't end up being a permanent layoff.

    Hang in there.

Sorry to hear that man. I hope that is as bad as it gets and doesn't last long. A lot of people are beginning to feel it.

Sorry to hear that bud. It's better than being laid off completely. It certainly shows goodwill on the company's part.

This whole recession is a nasty business. I see a lot of businesses going down around here. It makes me nervous. I'm almost done with my degree. Being "let go" would be a particularly nasty turn of events for me right now. I keep my fingers crossed and pray a bit.

Dang it, I'm sorry to hear that bro!! At least it's not a complete lay-off or termination.
