    Default New Hygro/humi problems

I haven't been able to find an answer to this exact issue, so here it goes.

got a little humi yesterday, and i cheap hygro from WalMart. being cheap, i expected it to be way off, but it was pretty close. about 2% low. put it in the humi, which i had been seasoning, and it read 93%! Since it isn't damp inside, i have a hard time finding that to be accurate. I don't want to kill my smokes!!

First of all you have to be absolutely sure your hygrometer is 100% accurate. I used the salt test to do this. If your Humi is a small one (less than 50 cigars) it might just be that the wood inside has soaked up so much moisture from the seasoning that you have over humidified it. I would suggest opening it up and letting it air out a little until your hygro reading comes down to the proper lever. I ended up switching to the RH Beads after reading many other threads and have had great luck with them. They would solve your problem easily because they not only let off moisture to raise the Rh but if you use them properly and only saturate about 70 percent of them the other 30 percent absorb any excess moisture as in your case. Anways, there are a few suggestions. Good Luck.

Side Note: You might search the forum because i have read many other threads this topic.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm going to try opening it up when I get out of work and get some needs next week when I get paid. I'll post how it goes.
