Default Question about Heartfelt beads and 50/50

I got a couple 2 oz. tubes of the Heartfelt hydration beads, and used distilled water to "prime" them, and they are slowly bringing up my humidity in my humidor.

Question is, I currently have a shot glass of 50/50 in the bottom of the humidor, and the "filter" that came with the humidor is "primed" with 50/50.

So, the question is, do you think the 50/50 will "contaminate" the crystals? I am assuming no... but have read that the Propylene Glycol could "clog" the florist foam filters... so I thought I would ask if there is an issue with the beads.

You can actually get rid of the foam humidifier and that shot glass. The beads would do the job just fine.

I don't think the beads will get contaminated, so during winter time, never bad to have multiple humidifiers (especially if you want to use up that 50/50).

I think FunkyCold5 hit the nail on the head. Just don't use the solution on the beads and you should be ok. I would also take out the foam.

For curriosity's sake, what would happen if you put propolyne glycol on the beads?

The beads would get pissed off.

PG regulates the RH to 70% and is unecessary with beads.

I get it, maybe the heartfelt guy will jump on here with a scientific explanation.

I think you would ruin them, there silicon based and are suppose to be used with distilled water. The propylene may affect the ability of the beads to absorb and give off humidity at the desired %rh.
