Thread: I nned a good hunidor to store boxes

Default I nned a good hunidor to store boxes

I recently went to Cigars international to buy a humidor that can hold about 20 boxes. I was talked into buying a floor model that was $500, but they gave it to me for $100. I should have known better. This cabinet didn't have a seal that was good enough to hold humidity. I kept trying to get it to seal properly, but it was a waste of time.

However, I still need a good cabinet that will hold 20 boxes. Does anyone know where I can get a good one without speding $500-$1000?

I sell a few but after shipping none of them are under 500 dollars. The ONLY one that would even count is the lauderdale but its on backorder until may. What cabinet did they sell you for 100 dollars? Getting something for 20% of its normal cost is a clear indicator that there is something wrong with it. But I guess you knew that. The hard part is making a faulty cabinet seal. Its harder than people think and most often these are just best returned.

Wal-Mart, in the camping and outdoor section. Coleman makes a particularly nice one. Somewhere around 100 or 120 qt should do fine, and fit well within your budget.

Ditto! Either that or build your own.

I'd agree with the cooledor approach if this is just for home storage and you're not trying to class up a room.

If this is for your store -- I wouldn't think a lot of merchants are selling things out of a cooler (maybe bait, pop -- hopefully not the same cooler) -- I think a few guys on here have had good luck with the cabinets from cheaphumidors.com. Not sure how they would hold up for commercial use. I have a small cabinet from cubancrafters.com that I've been pleased with, but it wouldn't work in a retail setting. If you elaborate, I'm sure the fine folks here would be more than happy to provide some additional info.

All that being said -- none of the B&Ms I frequent have well sealed cabinets -- at least not the level of seal I have at home.

Good point.... I missed that he has a business, I thought he was just another cigar enthusiast like the rest of us and was looking for some storage options.

I'm sure PMP has some cabinets that would fit the bill nicely, though not in the <$500 price range like he said. I think, with shipping, that's going to be the challenge.

I'm not sure which one it was. It was a floor model. For $100 it was worth a try. I also bought a Humi-Care electronic humidifier, which they said is more than enough to keep it humidified. I still think it was too small for the cabinet, but if it doesn't seal properly it doesn't really matter.

What do you have that might fit the bill? This is just for home use, but it will be out in the open so I want something nice. I don't mind spending money as long as it works. In regard to shipping, could I use our FedEx shipping account?

I'm a cigar enthusiast like everyone. We have some cigar cabinets in our store that work nicely, but it's a pain to have them at the store when I want one at home.

The only good thing about getting the humidor was I finally got to try the Illusione 88, which I think is a great cigar. Hey...you gotta find the good within the bad.

Spartan and Montegue are what I was thinking. I am very partial to the spartan personally. I like the glass door. It looks like a mini tower.

Standard Fed Ex won't touch these since they are so heavy they must be shipped via fedex freight. Check with your fed ex account and see if it covers fed ex freight.
