    Default Hello from Lancaster, PA

    Hello Everyone,

After perusing the boards, I thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself. I live in Lancaster County, PA and have only recently became a bit more serious about cigar smoking. I have very fond memories of visiting my Grandparents' house when I was young and loved the aroma wafting from my Grandfather’s office and have enjoyed the smell ever since. So about 3 years ago, I finally ordered a sampler online. But it was from Thomspon… And I thought I hated cigars. lol So the past few years I have smoked a few cigars off and on and realize that yeah, I really do like smoking a good cigar.

I have been trying various brands and came across the newbie sampler thread, which I can’t wait to jump in and make a trade and try some new sticks. I have been attending a monthly event at my local shop the past few months, which is awesome, albeit pricey compared to online. They have food, beer, scotch, and cigar specials. The guys at this shop are great to talk to. I turned 30 last Saturday and a few friends rented out the lounge area for 3 hours so we could relax and smoke. The San Cristobal was alright but I loved the Montecristo

I stumbled upon these boards as I was researching coolidors and I completed setting my first one up last night. I love that idea as the few sticks I have are drying out. I opened the coolidor up this morning just to smell the cedar. I could drool just thinking about the smokes I’ll have in there soon enough. lol Too many hobbies/priorities take up too much time, what with a motorcycle and trying to save for a house.

My apologies, as this intro is a bit long-winded. I’m sure I’ll make some newb mistakes on the boards, so I’ll ask for forgiveness up front. lol And I doubt that I will post much, as I’m no expert and I’ll be reading and taking in all the great information on these boards.

    Thanks everyone!
    Dan

I know right where Lancaster Archery is, but I've not been in the store. What brought you up this way? I've stopped in SC on my way to GA, but nowhere that I really remember. lol Mainly gas stations, etc. and late at night. Although you guys have the good fireworks, right? lol

    Internet order.
    Never actually been up there.

Yep, you can get cool fireworks around here, but you're not allowed to light them.

Thanks for the hospitality everyone and thanks for the links to the other threads.

I did add a pic of my cycle and I'll post one of my humble coolidor once I get the new camera arrives (old one was 7 years old and went kaput).

Nice bikes, BTW. I like the old Kaw. Looks like you actually wash your bike, unlike me!

Lancaster eh? I'm not too far away from you. I am in the Harrisburg area. I used to travel to Lancaster quite a bit. I hate driving downtown Lancaster. I could never figure out the roads! haha. So what are the best cigar shops in your area?

    Thanks for the welcomes everyone.

Sushiboy - You don't want to drive downtown Lancaster right now. They are converting the old Watt & Shand building (the one that has sat vacant for years in Lancaster Square) into a convention center and there are always road closings and detours. Luckily for me, I can take 10 miles of back roads to my job in Chester County As for cigar shops, I enjoy visiting Olde World Tobacco, on Route 30 right across from Tanger Outlets. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is very nice. There is also the Tinderbox, which is on Manheim Pike, north of the Park City in Chelsea Square. What shop(s) up your way is/are worth a ride? With the nice weather coming, I'll take any excuse to take a ride on the cycle.

lol Naw, the bikes were just new at the time. I would rather ride than wash and you don't even want to see the grime covering my car.

alliaphagist - What are you studying @ Penn State? Dare I say, go Fighting Irish!

Alright everyone, I'll apologize up front because my responses will be delayed as I'm flying to Jamaica early tomorrow (departure time = 5:50 AM = suckiness) and am getting married on Saturday. I'm not sure if it was this forum or not, but I read somewhere that it is hard to acquire decent smokes down there, but I'm holding out hope that I find a decent cigar shop in Ocho Rios.

    Later!

LMAO! I agree with the aliaphagist

In 1985, I was at the Penn State/Notre Dame game. It was cold as hell and pouring rain. Penn State won the game and wound up being the #1 team in the country at the end of the season after beating Pitt the next weekend. I also went to the Orange Bowl that year when the Lions played #3 Oklahoma for the National Championship. PSU lost which sucks but it was great to be in Miami on New Year's Day instead of cold-as-hell Connecticut.
