Thumbs up Oliva Serie G Maduro Torpedo

Im sure most of you have tried this cigar so i won't write a book about it. I will just say that up to this point I have smoked many different maduro cigars, some great and some not so great. Honestly this cigar has to be the best cigar i have had so far. Smooth, dark maduro wrapper. Perfect box-pressed construction. Even burn, long ash, and probably produces the most velvety-white smoke i have ever encountered in a cigar. Smooth and creamy with lots of spice. I mean this sucker made my tounge tingle long after i had finished smoking it.

    Rating:
Construction - 10/10 (Dark, Oily, Toothy)
Draw - 10/10 (I love an easy draw)
Ash - 10/10 (almost 2 inches before i tapped it off)
Burn - 9/10 (not perfect but close)
Finish - 9/10 (lots of spice)
Smoke - 10/10 (TONS of it)

    Average 9.7

If you are looking for a creamy, sweet, and spicy cigar with a great draw and LOTS of smoke then please try this cigar. Please check out this link and you will see how much smoke this sucker produces.

Good review. I have smoked many Serie G's, and they have to be oneof my favorites, but i have not tried the maduro, however with good marks like that i'll have to move it up on the list. I also am a big fan of Oliva, and with the exception of the V (with other's reviews i am convinced i got a bad stick) they are my favorite cigar company.

Thanks for the review. I haven't tried the Maduro, but I really enjoy the natural. I will have to check out the maduro.

    Default Wrapper

Since some of you havn't had the maduro i thought i would quote the inscription on the inside of the lid.

    "Maduro Broadleaf"
"These cigars have been made using only the finest genuine African Cameroon wrapper. The filler and binder are all Nicaraguan. Habano fillers grown on Oliva Cigar Family farms. All our cigars are handmade under the strict guidelines set forth by our founder in the traditional Cuban way."

So I am assuming that the wrapper on this cigar is an aged Cameroon broadleaf. I must say that the quality of the wrapper is one of the highest i have seen on a maduro. Hope you get the chance to try one.

I'm with Johnny and Denver. I've enjoyed the natural thoroughly but haven't tried the maduro. Guess I'll have to fix that soon! Haven't heard much about the S series. I'll give those a shot to.

I smoked the Series G box pressed churchill, Cameroon wrapper.

I love the Series G, one of my favorite. Definitely a great smoke, gets better in the last third. Very even burn, lots of smoke, and I've only had one that was wrapped too tight out of the 10 or so I've smoked.

    Straight from the website.

Serie G Maduro is a medium body blend made with Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. The unique flavor notes of this wrapper are complimented by the natural richness of Nicaraguan Habano fillers.

Are you sure you smoked the Maduro and not their Serie G Cameroon? Not trying to be a dick but it does happen periodically that you may pick up a cigar and smoke it not knowing that it is a maduro or not, some Padrons actually have a pretty dark Natural leaf and you smoke them thinking Maduro.

This is what the website has to say about the Serie G Cameroon.

Serie G is a medium body blend made with authentic African-Cameroon wrapper. The unique flavor notes of theis wrapper are complimented by the natural richness of Nicaraguan Habano fillers.

In my opinion, I think you've hit on one of the best NC cigar wrappers out there - the Cameroon (not maduro, unfortunately).

Give the Cuesta Rey Stanford's Cameroon Reserve a shot - you won't be disappointed, especially if you liked the Oliva Series G...

And if you want to have a maduro that will blow your socks off, try the ISOM Cohiba Secretos or Magicos Maduros 5.

I'm gonna agree wholeheartedly with George on the Cuesta Rey Stanford's Cammie. I was gifted one from a LEO from down south and was blown away. (thanks again!)

    Default huh

Well now im confused. The quote that i gave was from the inside of the lid of a full box that i bought that was still wrapped in plastic, so i don't know how it could be wrong.

However, I did visit the site and you are are correct. They are listed as Connecticut wrappers......they are being a little missleading in my opinion. I have incuded a pic of the box so that you can see for yourselves why I am confused.

That is indeed very confusing. My only guess on that would be that you must have had the Maduro and maybe what was put on the inside of the box was a screw up by the Oliva Company. Either way though you had a great cigar as i enjoy both the Cammie and Maduro of that line. I suggest then, since I think the fault may be in printing error on the packaging, is that you go out and get yourself a Serie G Cameroon and smoke that as well. Be sure to post a review too as I am interested in how it compare to the Maduro in your opinion.

Yeah, that's a mistake on the box.

I just picked up another Serie G Cameroon today, and it had the same description, but didn't say Maduro Broadleaf on it lol.

I just had one of these and it is now one of my favorites. Can't say enough about it. One of the first cigars I have smoked down to the nub. Excellent smoke.

I've yet to smoke an Oliva that I didn't like. I'm especially fond of the Special Gs, though all I've found so far are the Cameroons.
I have made it a rule never to smoke more that one cigar at a time.
