    Default well then.....

I think that song is hilarious and does fit me a little. I was trying to show you guys that i can take the criticism and even make fun of myself a little and i thought you guys might find it funny too.

Maybe i am an asshole in some ways, but you can really be a tough crowd. I am who i am and i can't change that. A little friendly criticism is not a bad thing but i think i've taken enough. I think it speaks a lot to someones character when all they do is put people down. I have really tried to get along, and to not just take from the forum but give info and reviews where i can.

Maybe some of you are right when you say this isn't the forum for me. It seems very impersonal and dry....i think would be the term. If i have learned one thing about cigars its that they are more than just rich, or creamy, or spicy.......they can cause us to feel emotions, and I have learned that when you are feeling a certain way then certain cigars compliment that. So its my wish that there could be a forum where that is not left out of the equation. Where people were free to express themselves and not be ridiculed for it.

So with all of that said, feel free to kick me off of here if you really feel that way. To those i have offended im sorry. No matter what happens im still going to enjoy cigars and hopefully will be able to help out some new guys when they discover that they love cigars too. Maybe it will be on this forum, mabye not.

Damn, you think you've been ridiculed?........really? We're "impersonal and dry", hmmph, not exactly what I get from this place.

I'm havin' a great night so I'm just gonna say that perhaps you are correct that this is not the forum for you.

By the way i had a great day also. Most of it was spent helping my brother. He is restoring a 67 Nova for a guy that drag races. Its really cool to see how all those scratches and dings can be erased and then a new paint job makes it look like a brand new car.

Lately i have done a lot of searching on the forum and have found many old posts in which mostly new guys were bashed, honestly a lot worse than i have been.....so thank you for that. But i just wanted to bring to attention that there are over 3000 members of this site. That really struck me as odd at first because i have only seen maybe fifty different people do most of the posting. Now maybe i am wrong and i will get more shit for saying this but i wonder if many of those members have read what I have and are simply scared to post. If I have to leave this forum then so be it, but i just want you senior members to think about that fact a little. I would argue that many of those members would love to give a little to the forum if they felt welcome.

Just a little food for thought.

    Love it
    Not mooching
Multiple consecutive ellipses (just stay away from ,,,,,,)
    Being from Kansas
Minor loss of "Shift"-key and "'"-key functionality
    Editing posts
    Hate it

The above is not intended as ridicule; there's dry, and then there's Canada Dry.

Getting back to the subject at hand, I do have a list of singles ordered in a manner similar to your list - although I don't think love or hate is quite what I'd think of for the top and bottom of the list. It is on the other computer so I'll edit it in later. However, a couple things to keep in mind:
    a) smoking one cigar does not give one a good idea about the cigar. A fiver gives a much better picture.
    b) not only do people have different tastes, but tastes vary with time. For example, a lot of people love RP when they start getting serious about smoking cigars; but a number of people grow out of RP.

    Oh, for chrissake.

I used to be on a Jeep forum that had over 10000 members, and it was always the same 40-50 guys posting day in and day out. I'm sure the other 9950 guys were all scared of being ridiculed for being ignorant about gear ratios and winch capacities.

Just a little food for thought.

Actually I hate that saying. How about, "put that in your pipe and smoke it?" That seems more appropriate for the board, no? Better yet "Go fuck yourself" might be better in this situation. Now that's a little food for thought right there.

    LMAO @ this shit.

Thank God you're not a Marine. I'm on a "Marines only" forum and this kind of hazing is normal. If you DON'T get this on a regular basis it means nobody likes you, so perhaps you should consider it a blessing.

What a crock of shit, I still don't get where you are being bashed.

If you've read so many old posts where newbies are being bashed, have you compared your actions to theirs? Did you read enough posts to get ALL the context in which the "bashing" took place?

Anyway, besides all the meanies we have here, it looks to me as if we have been adding quite a few quality members recently who have taken the time to figure this place out.

This reply doesn't in the least bit surprise me. I think I'm getting to know you, dreadog - and from what I'm seeing - I truly think you have no capacity to change. Too bad - your self serving attitude will do fine if you don't wish to venture out beyond your four walls.

Contribution at any forum is not writing a bunch of reviews and expressing your ideas. Much like the "richness" of the experiences of smoking a cigar - the richness of any community is in the subtleties of its membership - and (more important) what the individual members truly contributes to the everyone else in community.

You complain about the PIF - saying you think it should be different. While the 100 post rule is to prevent some selfish pig coming into this community and cleaning up, it also is a means of causing a new member to reflect on what it means to contribute, and the TRUE meaning of the concept of "paying it forward". Quite frankly - I know you have an incredible selection of cigars, but I have no interest in anything you have in your collection. I can buy any of those cigars without any difficulty - why would I want yours? So ask yourself - why do a trade? Is it about you? ...or is it about what you give to someone else? That truly defines what you contribute to this community.

If you continue to view the members of this community as a bunch of pricks - this community will be full of pricks. If you view this community for the diversity of opinions, the "richness" of the many subtle, often unnoticed contributions - you will be much more satisfied.

But - I'm becoming more and more convinced as time goes on - this place is not for you.. You might want to consider the benefits of joining a community like puff.com. I think that place is much more your speed. Maybe someday you will understand. I hope, for your sake - you will miss much if you don't understand.

Funny you mention "Food for Thought" - Yep - it is just more validation of what I thought.

A picture is worth a 1000 words, and since I can't bill anyone for those 1000 words, I leave you with this image. Time to go smoke me an Monte Edmundo.

You don't have to worry about him frequenting a Marine forum - he's not got what it takes to be a Marine. And it's not because he can't take a hazing...

Sometimes drawing a picture is much more valuable than the cost of the thousand words. What I wrote essentially says the same thing - but in either case - dreadog (I fear) will never understand the implication (i.e. achieving altitude) - and more importantly - won't do what he needs to do to correct his attitude.

...as they say - altitude has much to do with attitude...

Just throwing this out there again. You should definitely have stuck to your word and just stopped posting in here man. We don't lock threads or delete threads here so it was inevitable that one of the guys that hadn't weighed in yet would come, read and do so. You should have just read those comments and STFU. You could have also just come back and said yep you guys are right I did put my foot in my mouth in this thread and I am sorry but you chose to come in and offer your opinions on what this forum needed to change to be better, I believe I told you that was a bad plan. Well Like I said in my quote, I tried so my hands are clean.

    Default Hey its me again

Now don't go and get all enraged because i decided to post again. I simply want to say that i have decided to let this all go with no hard feelings. Infact i might just stay away from the forum for awhile. I have been spending way too much time on here and not enough time envolved in the things i love. I have a great wife, an awesome job, and i get to do many of the hobbies i love (besides cigar smoking) now that it is spring time. Maybe i will go out and try a bunch of new cigars and then come back and see whats new on the forum.

    See you guys later

I'm of the mind that, as Mark Twain once wrote, it's better to be quiet and thought a fool than open your mouth and confirm it. But keep going dog! This is some funny shit
