    Default Gurkha Avenger G5

    Toro 6 X 50
    All Nicaraguan Puro

Smoked this puppy as the last cigar of the day yesterday with a dram of Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban. It was a beautiful evening, just warm enough to be able to be outside at 9:00 pm with very little wind.

This is a nice looking, box-pressed toro. The wrapper is not heavily veined, and the squeeze test revealed no soft spots. The bunch at the foot looks nice, and the cap is cleanly applied. Cut and light were effortless. Cold draw gave me a deep well cured tobacco flavor with a very nice draw.

The first 1/3 had the flavor of chocolate with some overtones of spice on the finish, which was fairly lengthy and pleasant. The strength and body are medium/full.

The second 1/3 brought a deepening of the flavors with some leathery hints added to the spice. Nasal exhale really brings out the flavors with only a mild burn. The scotch is pairing well with it, and the strength moved into the full category.

The last 1/3 brought with it a mildly unpleasant bitter flavor to the finish, but a quick purge and rest took care of that nicely. I let it die with about 1" remaining.

This was a nice smoke, for me it began in the medium/full category and ended solidly in the full category in both strength and body. The flavor profile was nicely rounded, though not very complex. IMHO, a straight forward smoke from beginning to end.

While I'm not a big Gurkha fan, this one, along with the G3 will have a place in my humi when they can be had for a reasonable price point.

    Great review my Friend!

I have one of these resting in the humi, may have to put the fire to it.

    Thanks!

Nice review! I got a box of these box pressed toros and thought the exact same thing. I love ligero leaf but I think I will stick to La Flor for that type of flavor profile.

Thanks for putting this review up.
