Love these Nubs! Anybody else?

I tried a couple when they first came out. Their "hook" was that the best part of any cigar was the center so Sam Leccia, a rep for Oliva, thought he'd cut to the chase and just take what he claimed was the best part of the leaf (the center) and roll a cigar out of it. He reasoned that it would make the cigar smoke well from start to finish. He launched it with what I considered a lot of hype, with claims that it would change the way the world thought of smoking a cigar, or something to that effect.

In my opinion any cigar has to develop as it is smoked. There are no shortcuts. I agree with Basil and Ashauler. It's an OK cigar, but mostly a marketing gimmick and too expensive for what it is.

But if you enjoy them and feel they're worth the asking price, that's OK. We all smoke what we like.

Yah...I hear ya...and I agree with Ashauler that we can all have different opinions...no worries at all. Thats what makes cigars so enjoyable...there are plenty for everyones varying tastes.

Having said that...I just smoked a CAO Gold Maduro (Torpedo) last night while sitting around a fire and visiting with some friends...that was a very nice cigar! Sometimes...I guess the location, the company and occasion can really affect my opinion of a cigar...but that CAO was a really enjoyable smoke. And the Irish coffee's were a nice addition too!

Oh, yes... I love to NUB my cigars!!! Nothing better than smoking a cigar all the way down to the very nub. I once went to a herf where they put out hemostats for all the participants - that way you could REALLY nub the cigar! Boy - having a great cigar that you want to nub - that doesn't happen very often, but when it does...











Oh - you're talking the NUB cigars... Crap - I thought you were talking about smoking a cigar to a nub... Silly me.





I don't like NUB cigars - better stuff out there for a lot less money...

Ok...I suppose you can see that I am biased (look at my screen name!) but these "little" Nub cigars are so good! Just had another 464T (torpedo) Habano sitting on my deck with a nice fresh G&T...and what a great smoke! Great flavor, great construction, perfect burn...very consistant and full of flavor the whole way through!

I think these will be my regular smoke for a while!

Anybody else feel the same aobut these little fat smokes? If you ahven't ried them...give them a shot...I was skeptical at first...but I hav loved them form the first one!

Now what are you gonna do when you finally realize that NUB's aren't that great and you're stuck with that catchy username? Someone get this man a NUB!

Sam is a clas A douchebag but I do enjoy the nubs that Oliva makes for him.

I don't mean to drag up an old post but I am currently smoking a Perdomo Habano that is about 1.5 inches from the end and im loving it. I used to quit well before this point but as i have started to enjoy the more full flavored cigars I have also begun to nub more and more of them. I like how the pepper and spice begin to build in the last third and when you get to the end you can really start to feel it in your belly. I also love how the aroma from the lit end tingles your nose as you reach the finish.

I also agree that Oliva makes some fine cigars, as they have become one of my go to's. However, I think the NUB line is over hyped and you don't get what you pay for. If you really like them then you should most defenitely try the Serie V and the MBIII as you will get a much more complex smoke at a better price.

I like the Perdomo Habanos too. And the others along this line - Maduro, Corojo, and Connecticut. The last one is my favorite, but all these are good and are priced well too.

I have not tried a nub yet. My first thought was, no way, too small. But then again I like big cigars. Perhaps it would be worth a try.
