I'm pretty sure that it is the 6" x 52. The O Mad was the last of a box, and is over a year old and very ready-to-smoke.

    Pass!

While I'm here, I just want to assure the first-timers that over-puts are not expected in a beginner pass. First-timers should aim to be close in value. Experienced folks can do whatever they want .

#16 - I get Rich's price. This EL smokes much more like an EL (doh) than a Cohiba. Vaguely like a 1926 Padron right now, but should continue to improve with age. Enjoyable at three years, probably will be better in a couple more years.

#33 - Fuente rare and HTF are always interesting to value. The GoF 2005 Piramide was issued in 2007. A 300-count Prometheus humidor came with 100 sticks. Four different colours of humidor, ten humidors of each colour, 40 humidors total, 4000 cigars total. MSRP $6500, sold for about a grand less. If we assume the humidor to have a $2500 value, that leaves $3000 of the selling price for the cigars, or $30/stick.

Source: from the first page of a Google search.

#17 - The Presidente used to be the only regular production perfecto outside of Cuaba. The Presidente has the traditional extreme earth Partagas taste, not the mellower version found in the Serie D #4. Again, I get Rich's price.

    #34 - Unico I get Will's price.

The beginning values of the pass appear to be well distributed and reasonable, it should be the objective of the pass participants to keep it that way while exchanging sticks. The p/t's below significantly increase the value of the sticks exchanged.....more that $1/stick. If this continues throughout the pass, the sticks needing to be exchanged down the line could get out of reach for some.

The man has a point. Considering this is a pass with a lot of new members we do need to try to keep the values a lot closer to what the original sticks were. I know when I was a new member on CP and would want to get involved in a pass I'd look at the list and realize I had nothing to really offer. It's not going to be a good feeling for that new guy to get that pass and see that he really can't swap out with more than a couple of cigars but still have to fork over the money to ship it to the next guy. Not going to be fun considering he didn't really get to play much.

Those are Will's calcs. Rich's are closer, I have 35 at a couple dollars more than the Short Boli, not $5.

Rich, you put up your list first, so you don't have adjust your lower-end p/t. If you want to change them, then please go ahead, of course. Going first always means that you get the most discussion .

Going forward from Rich, please keep it closer on the under-$10 sticks. When I built the pass, I was looking for a mix of $1-$3 sticks, $3-$6, $6-$12, and over $12 sticks. Let's try and keep it that way.

I was also concerned about the price increase.

I was more concerned on taking ISOM and replacing them with ISOM, especially since this pass has an ISOM for non-ISOM rule. That is very hard to do at an average of 2.25 a stick. I think once we get to a certain point they're will be more sticks closer in value to trade. I also wanted to diversify the puts to offer more choices in brand.

If anyone thinks any of the trades are to off please let me know, I will change them.

On that note, I am changing one trade.

    Removing:
    Take: #3 Padron Executive, $5.87 - Put: #29 La Riqueza No. 2, $7.25(pd)
    Adding:
Take: #3 Padron Executive, $5.87 - Put: #29 Rocky Patel Decade Double Maduro Churchill, $5.97

I would like to know what the pass participants think about this change:

    Removing:
    Take: #6 Oliva O M Torp, $5.59 - Put: #30 Cabaiguan Guapo RX, $ 7.12
    Adding:
    Take: 4 Padron 1926 80th M $30.80 - Put: #30 Opus X Scorpio 2005, $33.75(pd)

I'm no rare/HTF fuente expert for sure since collecting isn't my deal. Isn't the scorpio one of the CFCF 22 fun box cigars? The splits I've seen on these were in the $40/stick range IIRC.

I think I have seen them in 4 cigar packs too, but I'm not sure of the pricing...maybe $150 or so for the 4pack.

Whoops, I should have been clearer on this:
If you take an ISOM, you can put an ISOM or a non-ISOM
If you take a non-ISOM, you can put a non-ISOM or an ISOM.
In other words, country of origin doesn't matter in this pass.

Some more comments, but not directed solely at Rich:

    - It is fine with me that the pass ends up 100% non-ISOM. I expect that.

    - If, say, someone later in the pass really wanted to try some cigars in the starting lineup, but when the pass got to them, those cigars were all gone, then PM me and I'll be happy to make arrangements outside the pass.

    - One doesn't have to take eight sticks, i.e., two sticks from each tray. Those are maximums. (There are no minimums.) I don't know why, but what usually happens is the first few people swap more sticks, and then the number of sticks swapped goes down as the pass progresses.

    - There are only a couple over-$18 sticks in the pass - the 80th and the Cohiba EL.

    - DC#s are normally posted, but discretion is exercised on international shipments.

    Question:

What do other pass participants have #18, the Partagas Salomone Oct 08 listed as?

Also, I can't find the price for an AF Anejo 55. Help is requested.

    Thanks again!

Rich's puts look good to me. To address Rich's question about which trade is better, I'm indifferent. I am interested in the Cabiguan, but then again, I'm also interested in the Oliva O. The Padron 26 and Opus X Scorpion are both out of my league, anyway.

Will be posting my proposed puts/takes after Rich has confirmation on his.

    snip...
    www.vitolas.net for the Anejo MSRP's.

On the Partagas, I was unable to find it on cigarcyclopedia, but did find some pricing from individual vendors of:
    240.00 / 228.00 / 196.63 / 239.95 .....
    throw out the lowest = 707.95 / 3 = 235.98 / 10 = 23.60/stick

However, there is an advertisement on this board from May of this year for 190.69 / box that included a freebie......so how's that for muddy!!

I had priced the Salomones at under $17 two weeks ago, but just exchange will have inflated its US$ value to around $20 today. Oopsie.

The US$ has tanked badly in the last few days - I figure until the GM (and Opel) things gets decided. Then the dollar will bounce back, IMHO. The current comparison shopper is May 19 - look for changes when the next one comes out.

I understood the ISOM rules, just didn't want to take ISOM cigars without replacing them with ISOM for people further down the road.

I am leaning toward the Padron for Opus trade. Let me know what you giys think! What would you rather see in the pass?

I can't find this one. I can find Decades, Double Maduro Churchills (at $5.99, a.k.a. Fusion MM's), but not a Decade Double Maduro Churchill. This being Rocky, I'm not denying the existence .

+1 to being interested in both the Oliva & Cabiguan and that the other two cigars are out of my league.

Also, I was away all weekend and missed the discussion on the puts being significantly higher than the takes and wanted to thank everyone for taking it into consideration when finalizing your trades.

    Questions:
Is there a norm for box passes to grow in value significantly from the beginning of the pass until the end?

Are contests/prizes usually included with a pass?

    Sorry about that Craig.

I was smoking a Decade while posting, it is the Fusion Double Maduro Churchill.
