So the new 99C works wonderfully.

I bagged an elk on the last morning before leaving with a nice, easy 300 yard double lung shot.

My wife is VERY happy, she loves elk! Personally, I like elk and moose the same.

This years total between the 4 of us:
    - a very nice 4x5 white tail buck
    - white tail doe
    - mule deer doe
    - calf moose
    - cow elk
It matters not how strait the gate,

Haven't posted an update to my stash yet. I used to have a S&W sigma 9mm. Great beginners gun if you are on a budget, but I sold it a couple of months ago. No I have:

    Glock 26
    Ruger LC9
    Ruger LCP
    Ruger Mark III 22/45

I'm really not much of a AR 15 "M16" fan after a few years of dragging one around in the army but for some strange reason today i decided to build one.

Picked up a C3 defense lower and complete parts kit now im shopping for uppers and a few other parts.

Completed the lower build this morning with Magpul parts and DPMS stock.
The build went nice and smooth.
I do recommend a better stock the DPMS had a lot of play in it so it will need some modifications "but i do like the look of it".

I still need a AR wrench to tighten the locking ring on the stock, but other than that its ready for a upper and optics to finish it.

So far i have $226 in the lower build.

I'm not set on getting a complete upper i may build it the way i want.

Post a pic when you're done. I'd love to see it.

I was dreaming about an AR style rifle the other night.........I'm not sure why........maybe it was my brain's way of reminding me I don't have one in the gun cabinet and should perhaps put one in there............lol

Oh, addendum to my previous rifle post with hunting info. I bagged a REAL nice 5x5 white tail buck on a friends land just outside of town. Those horns are going up on the wall!

I will up some pics when i complete the build.

I haven't figured out why I'm leaning toward tactical weapons lately.

Got my scope in and the AR wrench to tighten up the stock.
Some of you may laugh at the scope i picked but i like the design of it "I have been known to destroy scopes" 3x9x42.

This one looks indestructible. it works for my eye sight also nice and clear.

I will go with a holographic on top of it later on.

I also inherited a pump action Remington 22 that i really like, this gun just feels right.

I don't see anything funny about your choice in scopes. That looks like a good one to me and I'm a little hard on scopes myself so I like the idea of one that's a little "tougher".

That pump .22, is it an older one? I remember being a kid and going to the fair and they'd have the shooting gallery and it they always had pump action .22's. I loved those guns and have high hopes of finding one. I almost had one at the last auction I attended in September but when the price hit $300 I dropped out. I like them a lot and want one, just not that badly..........LOL.

I'm pretty sure the ones I'm remembering were Remingtons. The one I almost bought at the auction was a "Remi" but it was chambered for .22 short only....and it's not easy to find shorts around here anymore. I want one that's chambered for long rifle .22's.

I cant find a serial number on the gun just the date code ( UU - 1949 ), it has a mark in front and behind the UU what may be the top part of a A and at the end the lower half of a O. other than that just patent numbers.
I will have to remove the side mount scope to see if its stamped under that.

The gun is in good condition with just normal wear on it.

I'm not as familiar with that model as I'd like to be but I do have one single shot .22 that has no serial number on it. It's possible your Remi didn't get stamped with one. Knowing Remington though, I'd suspect it has been, I can't recall them ever not stamping an SN on any of their firearms. That .22 of mine is some obscure make/model I picked up at a gun auction for $15 so I'm not overly surprised it didn't.

Oh, speaking of Reminton's. My good friend and hunting partner has a Remington 700 in .270 It came from the factory with that stupid trap door magazine that has been put on so many hunting rifles (whoever thought that was a good idea........geezzzzz). He bought a Kwik Klip for it which is an assembly that converts it from trap door to removable magazine! I hadn't seen that before but what a nice deal.

    http://www.cabelas.com/magazines-cli...on-kit-2.shtml

A removable magazine is so much quicker/easier when you're out hunting. Now he'll be taking that gun along on our next trip..........LOL.

I picked the wrong gun to build

Yeah, that was a sad day and the resultant furor over getting rid of the evil assault style weapons is sure to be real loud this time. I expect it will bleed over to Canada where the anti's will use it as an excuse to get rid of ours up here too.

Maybe you can backorder the parts you need. It might take a while but you're sure to get them. How long, or if, you'll be able to keep that rifle remains to be seen.

I may backorder the upper next month if i cant find one locally.
I prefer to get it locally and no paperwork trail like most of my guns.

They can pass all the laws they want and ban guns but ill be keeping mine.

I noticed that! What a difference a day makes!!!

Reminds me of "back in the day" when FFL's were a dime a dozen. A buddy of mine offered to sell me a Chinese made AK for $250. I really did not see the value in it - I had a Mini-14 and it was just fine. What a mistake that was! After the assault gun ban I saw the same Chinese AK hanging in a gun store with a $2,500 price tag on it...

As my son would say, "Sweeeeeeet"! LOL

My brother is a cop and a member of the tactical squad. He's also done the sniper training and recently sent me a picture of his sniper rifle all finished and ready for action. Now, I shot this rifle 2 years ago when it still had the wood stock and the Leupold scope. Now it has a Nightforce scope (not sure which one but it's worth $2,000.00 CAD) and a new stock. Also, it has had a removable magazine added. Here's the picture he sent me.

    So yeah, I'm drooling!

On the plus side, the tactical guys got rid of their Leupold's in favor of these Nightforce scopes so I'm hoping to get a $1,600.00 Leupold with adjustable turrets (elevation/windage) for cheap cheap! I'm still waiting to hear from him but if I can get it even for half price, I'll be VERY happy. There's a chance I may get it for significantly less than that.
