I got a Riddle

A judge was about to sentence a man and asked the man if there was anything he wanted to say. Before letting the man speak the judge warned him that if what he was going to say was false, he'd sentence him to 8 years in prison and if what he said was true, he'd only sentence him to 4 years in prison. The man said what he wanted to say and the judge was forced to let him go free. What did the man say??


I'll give it a few days and if no one gets it I'll post the answer on Wednesday (5/27).

The man said "You will sentence me to 8 years in prison."

Correct! If the judge sentences the man to eight years then the man's statement was true and he has to sentence him to four years. If the judge sentences the man to four years then the man's statement is false and the judge would be forced to give him eight years which would then make the man's statement true again and so on.

I feel i have to provide an alternative to the original riddles answer of "You'll give me 8 years."
The man may also have truthfully said, "I have 4 years of presentence incarceration credit." It being true, the judge would have had to sentence him to 4 years which his credit for which would have forced the judge to release him as having served his whole sentence.
