    Question O Humidor, My Humidor!

Alright, you guys have helped get me fully into this cigar smoking thing! Now, i'm realizing I want a bigger humidor and have been doing some research into what I like. I'm thinking about one that is 100-200 count, and am debating about items such as glass top, external hygrometer, etc.

I'd love to get some opinions about the foregoing and also about a couple specific units, so please let me know all good or bad experiences anyone can offer.

The specific humidors I'd like anecdotal info on are:
    The Baccus - http://www.prohumidors.com/index.php...roducts_id=315
    The Pompeii - http://www.prohumidors.com/index.php...roducts_id=185
    The El Ray - http://www.prohumidors.com/index.php...roducts_id=189

Thanks for all the help guys!

They all look nice. I'm not a big fan of glass covers for viewing. I don't trust glass like I would an all-wood humi to hold humidity. For less cost than all of those you could do this:

it would probably give you more room to grow and way more storage.

    Good Luck!

What is your objective? Storage/aging? Display? Ready to smoke sticks?

100-200, yeah, might as well double that my friend, the slide has only started and the slope is long indeed.

That tassle on the El Ray is cute.

If you are looking to just store your cigars, the coolerdor is probably your best option. If you want something nice to put on your desk to impress clients / colleagues /fathers-in-law, go with the humidor. Remember, though, you will quickly outgrow this. You'll be back in here in six months time asking us the same question.

The glass top humidors are sometimes frowned upon because light gets to the cigars this way. If you were going to keep your cigars in the closet out of your wife's friends sight (or is that just me?), then it doesn't really matter what is on the top of your humidor. But seriously, the consistency of the cedar fully encasing your smokes on all sides of your humidor is probably the best way to go.

    That slope is slippery.....

i agree with both gentlemen above me. my first humidor was 100 ct. my second was foot locker 300 to 500 ct and still ended up with having to go with coolidor thanks to these corruptors.

Well I have considered the coolerdor option but I'm looking for something as everyone put it, to impress clients/collegues/fathers as well as not stick out like a sore thumb so the girlfriend hates it.

You guys really think I'll need more than a 200 count box? Do many of you have bigger cases?

Mine is 1000, and I'm already planning on coolerdor once it fills up. Try "teflon coated" slope.

I actually found this forum while researching coolerdors (my local b&M recommended going with a coolerdor), and after reading bigwhiteash's guide, I went with the coolerdor right off the bat. I always like getting the most bang for my buck, so being able to buy cigars by the box, thereby saving money, and having the room to store them appealed to me. Besides, for the money you are looking to spend on those humidors, you could easily have a coolerdor setup.

I can understand wanting to have a desktop, though. I might purchase a desktop model to dry box some cigars as well as offering guests a smoke from the humidor.

    Yes.

Yes. I would wager that many have larger boxes/cabinets/coolerdors. Personally I have 2 humidors, both 200 capacity as well as a 120 qt cooler for aging and a 40 qt quarantine cooler.

    Yes...and DOUBLE YES!

You know if you really wanted the humi instead of a coolidor, you can often find great deals on models that have a few cosmetic scratches or dings. They work just as well, but are a heck of a lot cheaper than the mint humidors. Of course, if you're looking for a showy humidor to impress your friends, then you're probably going to want a mint humi. You could always get a small glass top for your desk and use it to keep a few cigars in short-term for show. Then you could use a coolidor or a large beater humi for your long-term storage. Hope this helps...and let us know what you decide.

    2 X 100 count desktops, and 2 X 48 qt coolerdors.

considering a third cooler... The slope for me was more like that cliff the coyote always fell off, but I haven't reached the bottom yet!
