Quick humidor question

I got a new humidor a few days ago that I seasoned and seemingly stabilized. It was a steady 71% (on an analogue hygro) for 24 hours before I put my sticks in. Since then it's been slowly creeping up in humidity, and sits around 80%. I'm wondering if maybe I over-saturated the humidifier, or maybe it's just the fact that I live in humid ass Florida. Any help would be much appreciated.

Yup, NOAA says your rh right now is 79%. I've never tried this (I have the opposite problem in west Texas), but, some dry 65% beads (and now I think they have 60% also) might pull the rh in your humi down some. If it works, you could dehydrate them then with a hair dryer.

Maybe someone here will post their experience on this, otherwise the guys at Heartfelt I'll bet would respond to an email.

Yep, I've done this but in order to "de-humidify", you have to start with dry "white" beads so that they will absorb. I think the hair dryer will work, I put mine in the oven at 175 for about 30 minutes.

I'm still calibrating my hygro, but I think that the beads idea is a great one. I'll check into buying some, and try that. Again, thanks so much for the replies. Especially since I posted in the wrong section. heh.

Just to let you guys know, I calibrated the hygro using the salt method, and it reads about 10% off.... I really didn't expect much for $6 to tell the truth. At any rate, it's reading 62% , which is about 72% humidity in the humi. I also moved the humidor to a cooler area (cooler in my house is around 75*). the humi is keeping up that humidity for now, so we'll see how it goes in the next few days. I'm planning on ordering some humidity beads soon, when I have some extra cash. So thanks again for all the suggestions. I really appreciate it.
