Thread: Ghurka double maduro

  1. Default Gurkha double maduro

Torpedo, drank like two sips of a diet pepsi

Oily sheen - beautiful wrapper and construction. Cedar sleeve. Got it in a 5er from CI 3 to 4 months ago.

Upon lightup An earthy, sweet tobacco taste - not the harshness sometimes experienced right after lighting.

It's an absolutely beautiful evening, I'm sitting in the dark smoking this writing notes on my iPhone.

Pretty good burn on the nose exhale - toasty sweet taste but also pretty strong - a medium to full
Bodied cigar. Smoke very thick and
    Volumous.

The first third was very oily but not in a bad way - it went well with the earthiness and perhaps a bit of sweetness (dark chocolate?) that I was also experiencing. As i was nearing the second third I noticed a hint of nuts although I can't place an exact flavor that's what keeps coming to mind. Burn isn't perfect but it seems to be correcting itself - could very easily have been a lighting error, I can't see very well out here.

Two things to note a) the flavor from the cedar sleeve is really shining through and it's great and b) I've smoked probably 3 or 4 other cigars by ghurka and none have impressed me to be honest the only two I remember were the extra fuerte which I smoked way too young so it was not good and a barber pole ( don't know the name they make too many cigars) and it was just ok - this one is shapIng up really nice so far though.

It did need a quick touch up about a third of the way through which I hate cause it kinda messes with the taste of the cigar for a minute or two, but was still very nice as I entered the second third.

Ash hung on for about an inch.

Similar flavors as the first third, with the sweetness hiding in the background a little more and the nutty/toasty flavors coming out more strongly - still has the strong taste from the cedar, very very nice.

It's got a pretty long lasting finish, not as much pepper/spice as I had expected, I mean don't get me wrong, it's there but it's just very faint on the tongue.

As I near the end of the second third/beggining of the third that pepper and spice I had been expecting begins to kick in, it's very good and if the final third continues this way I'll be very pleased, I'm very impressed with this cigar and it's slight complexity.

The cigar finished out rather uneventfully, with more spice but still the underlying flavors previously mentioned. A very good cigar I really enjoyed it, if I wasn't so broke I'd buy a box of them.

Note to badwhale - I remembered you posting a review on this awhile back so I figured I'd write my notes and then post my review before looking at yours again and damn if they aren't almost identical.

Anyhow, really good cigar, if you haven't already I suggest you check it
    out.

    Nice review. Thanks!
I'm not sure you can get these in boxes. I know CI sells them in a mazo (15 bundle)

Nice review. I just picked up a 10'er of the Doble Maduro Toro from the Devil Site... Was gonna write a review on them, but it would look a lot like plagiarism after this.
I have made it a rule never to smoke more that one cigar at a time.
