Lighter question

Alright, so myself being pretty new to cigar smoking, I still have several questions. I was under the impression that 'torch' lighters (blue fame, could melt steel kinda lighters) were the only ones suggested for use because of the soot caused by a soft flame. Now today I'm watching a video on CA and notice some lad lighting his cigar with a soft flame lighter. The question is this: is it alright to use a soft flame lighter as long as it has the proper butane fuel and not like zippo fuel? Anyhow. Thanks.

All I use is soft flame. Don't care for torches. You can use zippo's but I find a simple bic is flavorless and real close to a match.
