    Default America the Beautiful

ain't just a cliche'. The last several years the wifey and I have taken to roaming the country on our way to and from the single planned event on our vacation schedule.

We've been lucky enough to be able to drive through some incredible places, stop whenever we got the urge, and move on when we felt like it. We've met some fantastic people, eaten some fantastic food, and I've smoked some nice cigars in very beautiful places.

This trip we went through parts of Tennessee and North Carolina that were breathtakingly beautiful. The kind of vistas that make you pull over, get out of your car, and just gawk. We spent a day in Maggie Valley, NC and rambling through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.........I'm glad we did.

I'm telling ya, almost any cigar goes well with this:

We are truly lucky to live in a country as diverse and beautiful as ours........who needs a passport. If you ever get a chance to pass through this area, I highly recommend it.

Thanks for sharing, Jamie. I agree with the sentiment. There are so many nice areas, even local to us that are nice to visit.

I'm lucky enough to live in a small town that is surrounded by rural & farming area. I try to enjoy even my local travels, or just sitting on the back porch.

That pic belongs on a post card.

Did you travel down I-40 and pass through Jackson, Tennessee. If you did you did you were within a mile of me and did not stop to say hi.

Closest we got was Memphis on the way out. We went south to Tunica from there, then east through Mississippi and Alabama and up to Sweetwater, TN, then into North Carolina.

On the way back we turned at Nashville and went back up through St. Louis and K.C.
