Use search. Turn off the pink text, and try to use proper capitalization, spelling. Do this all during and after introducing yourself.

    Thanks,

Red American cedar is the superior wood to make a fine handcrafted humidor. Spanish cedar is shit wood they make cigar boxes out of,its just rainforest trash. Post some pics when you are done

I will try to find Red American cedar. Do Western Cedar can be used for a humidor?

and to answer Badwale.. where you want me to introduce myself?

I am new here and i want a answer very fast because my cigar order is coming!

you say: why DouGy ... why you don't buy a humidor

and I say: no money :(

I know it's pretty hard to find - but if you can get your hands on the Wisconsin cedar you won't be sorry.

You can do an intro here, if you like.

You can use a tupperdor, or a coolerdor in a pinch (or forever)

That it .. why? why DouGy?

    so serriously

I knew cigars through my uncle. He is a cigars collectioner, he have 3 cigar humidors. I'm from Canada, I like cigars but I must make me a humidor to keep my futur cigars. I was wondering that type of wood would work especially if the Western Red Cedar may be the case. The stuff I buy it at a wood store, BMR. also is it oubligatoire to make a double thickness?

I thought that Google Translator worked better than this. Dougy, maybe just post in your native language and we will do the translation on our end.

DouGy - it is much necessary to make the humidor with more double thickness would be made out of cedar. It is not good thing to warp the humidor. No?

    merci

    "ok I'll write in French!

Is it mandatory to have a double layer if my humidor measure 1 inch thick.

All these questions are to make my own humidor and it does not spoil my cigars.

    thank you

I've been gathering that there's a kind of language barrier here so, call me festive:

Spanish cedar buffers humidity very well. It holds moisture well compared to the carcass that you would be building (out of any wood your heart desires). It is also aromatic, and some might suggest that it helps your cigars age, should you be keeping them for long term storage.

On the other hand, most of the low to mid grade line humidors for sale, are not made of solid Spanish cedar. They are usually some sort of MSD or pressboard (I think) and they are veneered with some decorative wood on the outside (aesthetics) and Spanish cedar veneer on the inside (aromatic.) They're not double layered.

You still have to use a humidification device to keep the box relatively moist. Don't forget to setup your humidor by seasoning it.

All this said, and tying together your quest for low cost cigar storage, again, go with a tupperdore / coolerdor, especially since time seems to be of the essence for you. Get some humidity beads and a digital hydrometer.

I've bolded some SEARCH terms for you.

    Merry Christmas,
    Will
