Greetings all.

50, short semi balding male from Upstate NY. Cigar smoker past 20 yrs or so. Prefer the older line names like Punch, Hoyo, Partagas etc but have begrudgingly been trying newer brands after a particularly tasty Rocky Patel during a great backpacking trip in the Adirondacks last year

Been lurking a bit over the years here, decided to jump in.

Actually need a bit of help here if I may indulge you.

My Dad gave me a box of Canaria D'oro Inmensos the other day. he bought out a defunct tobacconist about a year ago. We've been enjoying a ton of Brown label Dunhills, (vs the more recent Blue label which I think has gone by the wayside as well), made in the Canary Islands, smoking wonderfully btw, nice Corona.

Can anyone give me an idea of manufacture of the brown label Dunhills or Canarias? The cellophane is a nice dark brown on the box and on the cigar wraps.

The code on the Canaria box is as follows:

Imported By Jose Escalan(ee) and Company......
the last two letters are blurred, could be "Escalante"
Murray Hills Station NY NY.
SU 8

I know Canaria was a "temporary" brand for the Partagas folks while they were shifting production to the DR from Jamaica. One neat thing is that this box weighs a ton!!! Everyone in the office is surprised when they take it in their hands

Thanks in advance, be interesting to get an idea of how old these are.

I plan on opening the box tonight as my 4 yr old daughter has her first day of kindergarten today...YIKES To celebrate, tonight, back porch, Canaria D'oro and a glass o' Port when the girls go to bed.
