Interesting Observation

So, viewing who's online, user Lyagushkka has been Private Messaging all morning.

Lyagushkka has made no posts in this forum, despite being a member for a month.

A quick Google search only shows a plethora of forum registrations, most without any posts, many accounts being banned.

I understand how a spam-bot works, but the list of forums is quite diverse. I would have thought that these efforts would have been managed better.

Sorry, but spam (as a practice) is fascinating to me. I have even responded to a few of the Nigerian scams in the past with bogus e-mail addresses. It's the same reason why I answer the tele-marketers calls in the evenings. I figure if I'm taking up their time, they aren't taking up someone else's.

Anyone know of a good book explaining how this all works?

I thought I was the only one who enjoyed playing with telemarketers too. My wife and I have had contests to see how long we can keep them on the phone. I think our record is about 45 min. (mind you that's only because we got really bored)

I have a Twitter account. I don't use it, but I have one, nonetheless.

Now, no one knows of my twitter account, yet I have several followers. I was wondering if anyone else who has a Twitter account has noticed that they have totally random followers to their twits.

IT guys, what possibly could the motivation be?

It simply generates traffic. Traffic usually means hits. Hits mean $.
