I had the pleasure of catching this film this past Friday in 3D. It was quite possibly one of the best movies I've seen in my short 25 years of life. I'd recommend it to anyone, it's a must see movie! There's a reason James Cameron only makes a film every five years!

Wifey, my Dad and I went to see it over the weekend (not 3-D). I felt it was well worth the $6.50 ticket price. I would go see it again if it ends up playing at the theater in town here.

I felt it was predictable, but who cares? It was a cool action sci-fi flick.

I was able to get to the theater to see it, didn't catch it 3-D but I did enjoy it quite a bit. I definitely recommend it.

I haven't seen it yet, but am planning on it soon (and in the theater, in 3D). I talked with my barber yesterday about it and they said that they saw it first in 2D and then in 3D and that it is amazing in 3D.

I rarely go to the theaters for a movie, but for this movie it looks like the theater experience will be worth it.

I saw it in IMAX/3D when I was in the states last month. It was worth the ticket price. Wonderful movie.

I would rather staple my balls to a burning log.

I'm thankful that this, my 2000th post, was such a meaningful and thought provoking addition to the board.

Sooooo what you're trying to say is you're not interested in seeing this movie?

    I opted for the whole kit & kaboodle - 3D & IMAX.

The storyline could NOT have been more predictable. The graphics could not have been more stunning. This wasn't Star Wars.

    Highlight for spoiler comments below:

    *SPOILER ALERT*

While I wasn't driven to temporarily attach my nether-regions to the flaming state of timber, as SOON as he saw that girl, the movie was over to me. I knew it would follow the same love-story plot line. The only question left was: was he going to die in the end of the epic battle for humanity, or miraculously pull through?

Oh, and Sigourney Weaver's avatar looked an awful lot like Helen Hunt.

I love sci-fi. I was hyped about seeing this movie, and I think it has to be reviewed on two fronts: technical/effects, and then the plot of the movie itself.

Technically speaking, this movie is a leap forward in cinema. If you did not see it in 3D, you are kind of a retard, because the guy invented a new camera to film it in 3D. What I read back in the summer was that it was supposed to be more like seeing things on a stage, rather than a flat surface with thing occasionally popping out of it. I would agree that this was the case. It wasn't even the big on-screen effects, but little things like the computer screens and such that made it look better than anything else. The aliens looked rad as well, and the effects used to make them look like the actors really worked I thought.

As far as story goes, it was kind of stupid, and not really original. If you're going to make a sci-fi movie, it has to be different from anything else. Even the robots the people walked around in I though were exactly the same as the loaders from Aliens. And elements of the movie like "Pandora" and "Unobtanium" seemed really stupid to me.

What I do know is they better come out with a badass Blu-Ray release of this movie complete with 3D effects. This should be possible because while new technology was used filming the movie, theaters didn't need new hardware as far as I know to project the thing.
    End of line.

Wow, glad you could come back to the board and point out the obvious shortcomings of some of the members.

Oh wah. My point was, as I said above, without the special effects and 3D, I thought it was a fairly mediocre movie. By seeing it in 2D, you really shortchanged yourself.

I personally wasn't really offended being called a kind of retard. When it comes to entertainment & things of that sort, you're probably right. The sun and moon and stars have to align correctly for my wife and myself to go see a movie (i.e. 2 year old.) Also, beyond that, we would have to drive a significant distance to see the move in 3D.

I don't read a lot of news, and we don't have cable or Direct TV at the house. I kind of like it that way, but in the same regard, I'm not up on all the new movies coming out, and what's available. My wife wanted to see the movie for different reasons, not to see special effects etc. Did we shortchange ourselves? In hindsight, I guess we did. Oh well. I see a movie so infrequently, that even a 2D sci-fi movie with alot of special effects and a predictable mediocre plot gives me an escape from reality for 3 hours.

Maybe we'll make the arrangements to go see it in 3D now.

Well, I guess Ii'll just have to be a short-changed retard then since I can't even remember the last movie I went to a theatre to see. I mainly stick to dvd / blu ray when they come out and watch them in the comfort of my living room. I seem to enjoy them just fine. Just like I enjoy my pussy basketball games.

I'm the same way about Blue Ray. We don't see movies in the theater because of the prices. If I'm going to spend some nice coin on a movie, I want to me assured that I'm going to enjoy it. We just wait until it come out on Blue Ray and then watch it.
