Thumbs up Carlos Torano Exodus Gold 1959

    Vitola: Double Corona 7x50

Hello BOTL. This one is a little lengthy but it is what it is.

Silky satiny beautiful wrapper Carlos Toranos Exodus 1959 double corona it has a thick smell of half sweet bitter chocolate... nose exhale is definitely woodsy and this was the first few hits. I taste cocoa, nuts and wood.... HEAVY COCOA. Nose exhale reveals some spice right away like in the second hit. This tobacco taste good dammit. From what I understand the filler and binder are from five different countries. Satiny smooth velvety smoke tastes just like it looks. Luscious and leaves a good after taste in your mouth. WOW I love the feel and taste of this tobacco between my teeth, good amount of smoke drawing well. I have had these resting about seven months. Did I say the tobacco between your teeth tastes and feels good. I like the box pressed design of this double corona. The nose exhale is awesome, it must be this wrapper, the wrapper is velvety I taste heavy dark chocolate and cocoa and pure damn tobacco. This smoke has a real good review already. That is a huge intro and I am only in the first third. Definitely a strong medium, medium to full. It would probably hit the scale between medium and full. Definitely smooth to be so stout.,, rich, make sure you do not let your ash hang too long, it only hangs about an inch which is not the sign of a good cigar necessarily, but this is really smooth. Just slightly acidic, leaving a great taste in my mouth of bitter sweet cocoa, more on the slightly sweet side, reminds me of the old time Hershey's cocoa, in the old square tin, remember when you used to stick your finger in there to taste the chocolate? This wrapper is even that color.

Now I am starting the second third. More towards the dark dry Hershey's cocoa in the can, remember when your mom used to buy that one. this tastes like the best chocolate bar you have ever had in your life wrapped up in some high quality tobacco. Goes real well with the cappuccino that I am drinking. Getting more of a musky tobacco coming into the scene now, and the draw is perfect, and ten period. beautiful light gray ash, it seems to be hanging on a little better in the second third, the second third is kindly kicking my ass with goodness. This is real good I forgot how good these are. It is a little stouter now, and I can taste the acidic even more, more tobacco flavor coming out also. A Free hand grammar destroying amateur reviewer that is who I am. Like a painter with a brush I cannot stop for a comma or a period, please don't hurt me. mmmmm what a hit, stout tobacco, so smooth and just enough tongue tingle, what a great cigar. WOW finished my cappucino about the same time I finished the second third.

The third third begins...A good strong hit of nicotine. I am tasting a little more tobacco and the flavor described in the first third is still there and it has just gotten better and better. way more tobacco flavor right now. A lot of that cocoa has not disappeared, but gone into the background. I would recommend this cigar to anyone who likes a medium to full body cigar, no matter what your taste is. This cigar kicks royal butt, again I love this box pressed shape, it is the perfect size, it has been a complete pleasure to smoke this cigar from tip to butt. The ash is beautifully hanging on now. got to take a picture of that. [Insert lots of smoke picture here] =)

call the fire department the third third is exploding with smoke. Tobacco flavor all up in this cigar. Damn this cigar is good. This third third is just plain old good tobacco, getting a good nicotine hit/kick now. I cannot say enough about the draw, the draw is perfect. I swear i taste a leathery flavor taking over, leathery feel something, and the tobacco is getting stronger for sure nose exhale has changed, this cigar is changing big time more acidic now and I am starting to taste some kind of mellow spice. some kind of nut in there, what is that?? whew that is strong. (that is what my fiance said.) What do you taste I ask her. I taste strong acidic, and nut, and tobacco and a lot of spice. Wow it is strong now. about two inches left of this cigar and it is strong and so good, the cocoa is all but disappeared, it has turned leathery, tobacco and nutty.

    This cigar satisfies. The end.

    You could say that!
Yeah, I kinda liked it! :P They never let me down either. Very consistent. And I love the
    Double Corona size in particular.

Fantastic review - you have a knack for describing tastes.

Mine goes like this: "Uhh, I taste tobacco, and maybe a little wood... or maybe that is earth?"

I would like to smoke one of these now and see if I can pick out the tastes you describe.

This is still one of my favorite "go to" sticks, I always keep a box in the back of the humidor for those days when nothing else looks appetizing.

Thank you all for the compliments on the review. I actually thought it would turn out to be "not so hot" because i was just talking my way through the smoke and my fiance was basically dictating everything I was saying as I explained it to her out loud what I was experiencing. It seems to work out sometimes. It makes me feel like I am contributing even in a small way to the board. Hand it to badwhale for the basic template with pics inline. badwhale has a killer format and I always love reading his reviews as well as others.

And Oh my what a smoke! I bought a box of these back in june/july @ the "Our Roots Run Deep" Toranos tour. And I still have 4 each left of a special fresh roll.
Here you can see some pics of what I brought home from the event.

I met Carlos Torano and had my picture taken with him, I will post that soon. In that album I posted this link to above you will find the description of the limited blend freshly rolled that you could only get at the tour event. Simply called the "our roots run deep blend". I had 7 smoked 3 and I am relishing these babies. Going to let them rest for several more months if I can keep my grubby paws off of them that long. =)

I really like these. I've never smoked the DC but I used to buy boxes of the Corona Gorda size (the Toros I think they call it) from Hex until he banned me.

Actually, the reality is I've cut way back on my cigar smoking over the past couple of years and I just recently ran out of the last box I bought from Hex so one of these days, I gotta get another one from him real soon.

Seriously, you're probably not going to find a better price on the 'net anywhere and if you do TOUGH $HIT, buy them from Hex. Consider it your "contribution" to the site.

I might be up for a split. Hey, I got an idea, let's make Hex's life miserable and make him split the box and send half to you and half to me. He does say "free shipping" on his site.

Ya think he'll go along with that or tell us to go pound sand?

You can have the box Fred, I have plenty of empty ones hanging around here.

I'm up for a split also. I want to try the Toro anyways. I only have 6 DC left. I can't run out of these. I can fill in with a fiver even if you need me too. Let me know please. Let me know if you move this conversation to the Exchange section. I will ride along with ya.

    Thanks.
