    Default CAO America ~ Potomac

    Big Jack's Review

    Smoke: CAO America ~ Potomac
    Drink(s): Misc. Yuengling
Tunes: Def Leppard ~ Hysteria; Depeche Mode ~ Violator

    Wrapper: Connecticut Maduro / Connecticut
    Binder: ?
Filler: Dominican, Nicaraguan, Italian & American
    Draw: Medium to light
    Burn: Good
    Misc: 90+ minutes run time

Pre-light: Nice pinstripe wrapper design with additional band at foot. Dark brown Maduro shade wrapper with medium brown pinstripe. Nice construction & dense / heavy feel. Rich tobacco scent and sweet tobacco taste on prelight flavor.

Light: Pretty easy. Medium to light draw.

1st 3rd: Medium to full body. Leather & oil flavors. There’s a sweet tobacco taste, but it comes across dry, like a semi-sweet chocolate. Interesting.

Ash: Crisp white gray with dark splotches occasionally. Holds on easily for almost 2”

2nd 3rd: Leather & oil dominant. Same as before, but a more sweet creamy aspect kicking in now. Again, a medium to full body smoke with a medium to full flavor profile. Some woodsy notes now too.

3rd 3rd: Same flavor profile as 2nd 3rd. Doesn’t heat up, or get harsh near the end (I finished this one in a pipe.) Leather & oil, sweet creamy tobacco. Very nice.

Overall impression: Great, another one I need to add to my list of 5ers to get! Full body, and mellow at the same time.

Thank you slcraiders for sending me this baby to smoke!

Very good review Will. I have been hesitant to try this one since I tried the Italia and did not have a good experience with it. Your review makes me want to give it a shot. You're making me go spend more money you bastid!

Nice review, I saw a fiver of these on the monster yesterday for $20 and free shipping... I was able to hold back but now I'll be on the lookout.

Nice review. That's one fancy looking cigar. I'm all about the label art.
So, it holds the same basic profile throughout, with additional 'notes' along the way?
What's that fancy striping on the wrapper? mmm... stripes...

It was pretty straightforward, with little nuances, yes.

The pinstripe is made with two whole wrappers (according to the description on CI) It's a Connecticut broadleaf maduro, wrapped a little offset with regular connecticut leaf.

I bet a cigar pixie could show us how to do it.

So, it is a complete wrapper, rather than an after-roll pinstripe job. Nice.

I saw a few really interesting cigars recently with very intricate flourishes and striped designs. I wonder how much that really adds to the flavor. Perhaps only the cigar pixie knows for certain.

Great review, Will. I agree that the America is definitely a good smoke to pick up. I had one when they first came out and have had another aging for about 2 years now. I should probably get to that one soon.
