Default Arturo Fuente Anejo ~ No. 77 "Shark"

    rpb67's review

This is a third! tandem review with my wife

Smoke(s) Arturo Fuente Anejo ~ No. 77 "Shark"
Drink(s): Yuengling Bock Beer (me); 7up (wife)
Tunes: Assorted stuff on wifey’s Zen

    Wrapper: Connecticut broadleaf Maduro
    Binder: Dominican
    Filler: Dominican
Draw: Me: Medium / Wifey: Easy
    Burn: (Both) Good
    Misc: 90min +/-

Pre-light (Me): Box pressed with red band at foot. Changes to round shape at head. Medium dark brown with little white specs on wrapper. Medium sweet tobacco scent. Mild prelight flavor (of spice)
Pre-light (Wifey): I like the shape ½ round and ½ box. I think with color of cigar, the crimson ribbon matches nicely. Unidentifiable prelight scent. No prelight flavor, with a very slight tingle on the lips.

[B][SIZE="3"]Light (Both): Easy light, medium draw to easy draw.

1st 3rd (Me): Leather and creamy spiciness. Kind of numbs my tongue a little. Sweet tobacco ring. I can sense the cognac flavor.
1st 3rd (Wifey): Very mild. Hardly know I’m smoking a cigar, but what is there is very pleasant & creamy.

Ash (Me): Tight stack. Medium gray, holds on for about 1 ¼”
Ash (Wifey):Flakey, light gray. Holds on for about 1”

2nd 3rd (Me): Smooth & mellow. Medium body, full flavor. Leather and soil and sweet tobacco with a wine / booze like ring to the aftertaste. Some cocoa notes.
2nd 3rd (Wifey): This cigar is like a phantom cigar. Mellow, but a mild body cigar flavor with a breezy aftertaste. Not sure 7up is a good pairing (too sweet)

3rd 3rd (Me): Sweet and creamy. Leather & oil bite with mellow bitter twinge.
3rd 3rd (Wifey): Flavor has picked up. Peppery, but still creamy. Actual smoke is still light.

Overall impression (Me): I like the Anejo line a lot, and I’ll make it a point to pick a few up whenever they’re available.
Overall impression (Wifey): Better than most cigars I’ve had lately.

    Will (& Wifey)

Thanks Will ( and wifey )

"I gotta get me one of those."

Tell your wife thanks for putting up with a hooligan like yourself. All kidding aside, it is really cool that your wife sparks up with you. My fiance will take several hits but never does want a whole one for herself. I need to fix that.

Great review Wifey! Will, your side of the review wasn't too bad I guess...

You know what would be interesting would be to have a bunch of members all decide to smoke the same cigar one night and PM their review of the cigar to one person (say Will), who would then compile all the reviews into one post. The reviews could be split into a half dozen categories (prelight, contruction, burn, draw, ash, taste, smoke, overall, etc.).

That sounds like a good idea buzz. I am just now getting settled in comfortably enough in the new place to do some more reviews myself. I need to pick up one of these "Sharks".

Great review Will! And Wifey! Have not had the No. 77 "Shark" yet... but I know that I will eventually try one.

Buzz great review Idea. Perhaps we could set it up on a box split type of situation.... here is an Idea for a framework to start from. Happy to hear suggestions on this! Perhaps there might be a better way? I am not sure.

    1. Find a cigar to review and buy a box. (host buys box and does mailing after recieving MO from participants)
    2. Send two sticks out to each participant.
    3. Have each participant store their sticks for 2 weeks in the humi. (so at least they are in smokeable condition)
    4. Smoke em and give a report. (we could use a standard reporting format using a word document for ease and organization of reporting)
    5. Final group consensus review when all is completed. (the host or the one in charge of the group review does this)

I think we could do one of these perhaps every two months or one a quarter. I would certainly be interested in participating in this. It would make for a great "group opinion" on particular sticks. We could run the gammut between fine sticks and yard gars or new products. My question is would we have pics or not? Perhaps one or two? Just some thoughts. That is my 2 1/2 cents for ya. Roger.

Your thread has been officially hijacked!

I like the idea Roger and would participate as well - what would be really awesome is if we could somehow convince a manufacturer rep to offer a discount on a box knowing that their cigar is going to be thoroughly reviewed. I like the pictures idea too - compare ashes.

Total hijack! I would not want to run this setup, but I would be down to participate for sure!
