Default Mega Review Signup and Voting

Ok guys, I will take a stab at organizing this. I am still pretty new to this site, so if someone else would rather handle it feel free to let me know. Thanks to badwhale for the idea - Here are my thoughts one how this will work:

    1. We decide on a cigar or cigars to review
    2. MO's to me (or check if I know you) - PM me if you'd rather do a trade
    3. I'll buy the cigars and distribute sticks to everyone who participates
    4. By a certain date(s), everyone must submit to me via PM their review of the stick(s)
    5. I'll post the results in a new thread for each cigar we review

I don't think we want it to just be 1 cigar sent to each person, 3-5 sounds better (because of the shipping cost). Fivers seem to work nicely math-wise, maybe we do that. It will really depend on how many people want to participate and what cigar(s) we choose to review. If we decide to review multiple cigars and you cannot afford to (or just don't want to) review all of the cigars, let me know and I will account for it in the distribution.

I will probably make a Review Sheet for everyone to fill out, that way the format is the same for everyone and it will be easier for me to compile. If you have access to a camera pictures are appreciated. This should be a pretty interesting way to see how people's tastes differ. It would also be a help to guys like me who struggle to figure out exactly what that taste is.

Reply here if you want to participate, also post your top 5 cigars that you would like considered for review.

Please post links so we can list the prices. If you know of a better deal than what is listed please let me know. Freebies will be distributed fairly or randomly sent to one of the participants (I won't keep freebies for myself).

If you have any suggestions/comments on how we run this please let me know.

    -Buzz

Count me in.. and since you are from my home town (go Wildcats!) and I visit there very often, maybe I could just meet you when I was down there? Just a thought, I can do mail and money order if you are more comfortable with it/easier for you.

You named off a couple of my favs.. I have never tried the Graycliff Double Expresso, but it sounds quite tasty. I would be up for any or all of those you listed.

    I am in.

If we are to vote on the listed cigars I will put a vote in for the RP Olde World reserve and the Graycliff to be mega-reviewed. I have never tasted a 5 vegas that I liked so far so my opinion is to scratch that one and choose another inexpensive cigar but that is just me.

Overall, very cool idea... Thanks for volunteering buzz.

Ok, My votes: ( same as Buzz except for NO. [5] )

    [1] Graycliff Double Expresso (~$12/stick)
[1] Rocky Patel Old World Reserve (~$8/stick)
    [1] Cubao Maduro (~$7/stick)
    [1] Cain Maduro (~$6/stick)
[1] Padron 3000 (not sure of the box price atm)

I like their Maduros.. the classics are good too, of the ones I have tasted. I am with you on the Padron 3000, always wanted to try one of those. I personally really like the RP line (including the one listed)... but since you are a huge Edge fan, maybe that would be a good one to mass review? I know I enjoyed it, and many others here have. Its in the same price range as the Cinco Classics I believe.

Yeah, that sounds good. I say my number five is and edge maduro (toro or misille).
And you are correct. They are in the 4.50 - 5.00 range.

I wouldn't mind jumping in on this, but not really sure how the finances are going to be, so I might have to sit the first one out.
Also, I will only play if Buzz doesn't make fun of my sigtag

I graduated from the U of A - big Cats fan. Meeting up is cool with me, we'll schedule it once I know the timeline of the order...

You can vote for a cigar already listed, or add your own - and it doesn't have to be five either. I'll update the first post with the votes as they come in.

Gurkha Black Dragon robusto 4.5 x 52 ( found them in the CI catalog on page 9 (march one). Wondering if they have them in a toro size. They are in a special edition tin 5 for $29.95.

    Buzz,

Are you actually going to get this whole gamut of cigars, or just going to pick the top vote getter, and fill out the order? You're saying "cigar or cigars." Might just want to stick to the top one for the first round.

    Just a suggestion.

For the first go at this, I am thinking we just go with one cigar - makes it easy on me and won't be a big expense up front. If this Mega Review thing works out and people want to do it again, then maybe we go for a higher $ stick, like the Double Espresso, and/or get multiple boxes of different sticks.

Right now, it is looking like the Cains are getting dug the most - so I am leaning towards getting a box of those. Famous has a deal right now where if you get a box you receive a 6 stick sampler for free. That would put the total number of cigars at 30. If we get one more person to sign up that is a nice and easy 3 sticks per person. Only problem here being that not everyone will get 3 Cains, some people will get one of the sampler sticks. I am willing to have the last stick left, let me know which of these you guys would want (first come first serve, I'll edit the top post):

    Oliva Connecticut Robusto Natural (5 x 50)
    Oliva Serie G Belicoso Maduro (5 x 52)
    Oliva Serie G Toro Natural (6 x 50)
    Oliva Serie O Perfecto Natural (5 x 55)
    Oliva Serie O Robusto Maduro (5 x 50)
    Oliva Serie V Double Robusto Natural (5 x 54)

Total cost is $147 (free shipping) for the 654T Habano Torpedos

    Cost per person would be $14.70 + $4.95 = $19.65

We still need one more victim, I mean participant...

I don't know, but the Cuban Classic looks pretty tasty.

Cain works well for me too. I would even be willing to take the freebie, I aint too particular, and less than $20.00, I can do.
