Thread: San Cristobal Guajiro

    Default San Cristobal Guajiro

I wasn't planning on doing a review so I didn't have my camera to take pics. I just started jotting down notes because the cigar was surprisingly good (I had no expectations going in). I didn't find any reviews on this cigar from doing a quick search.

    San Cristobal Guajiro (6.625 x 46)

Really smooth, leathery wrapper. Some small veins. Smells sweet.

    Pre-light taste: Delicious. Sweet.

1/3: Really, really good. Leathery. Some salt here and there. Small hints of chocolate covered cherries. Slight pepper aftertaste. Smoke smells a little like chocolate, too.

    Burn: Fairly even all around.

Ash: Layered. White speckled with black. A little flaky. Stayed on for 1/2".

2/3: Same good flavors with an added tobacco flavor. Seems to have increased in strength. Starting to burn uneven.

3/3: Just like the middle 1/3 in strength. Frequent touch-ups needed. Still really good flavor with more tobacco flavor.

Overall: Great smoke. I never tasted flavors like that before in one cigar. Leathery, salty, chocolate-cherry flavor with hints of tobacco that increased as I smoked. Everything blended well together and only changed for the better. Even the uneven burn couldn't detract from this. 9/10. I really need to get more of these.

i am a huge fan of the San Cristobal line, i always pick one up when i am buying a batch to fill the humidor, or one or two for the weekend.

great review, i hadn't noticed the chocolate covered cherry flavor in the smoke before, but i will pay closer attention next time... now i'm craving one so there goes a few bucks... thanks.

Joe had these in the robusto size, 5 for $25. After this review I picked one up, can't wait for em to get here.

I think I got a pack of the robustos from a similar deal, Eville. I had one a few weeks ago and it didn't have the chocolate-covered cherries flavor to it. The one from my original post was in my humidor for almost a year so I'm guessing that had something to do with it. The robusto was still an excellent smoke. Can't wait to hear what you have to say about it.

Great review..... I ought to kick myself, because I was looking at these when I was in Salem last week, could have picked up a few. Well I guess I need to try them now. Thanks for the review. Roger.

I was at AVVA cigar at the mall for just a bit of time, long enough to smoke one cigar. Saw them in the humidor and thought about getting one but did not. Oh well, better luck next time.

Thanks. I have a meeting in Salem once a month near Lancaster. I'll have to check out that shop next month.

Having one of these now. I get most of the flavor profile listed in the OP. I can even stretch my imagination, and get the chocolate covered cherries... Very nice smoke. I believe the one I have is the Supremo vitola.

    Thanks....
