    Default P.A.D.

    (Pipe Aquisition Disorder)

With the onset of the cooler months, I find myself reaching for the pipe more often than a cigar, leading to the aforementioned disorder!

Heres a couple quite reasonably priced items I picked up from the bay of e

    Oldenkott Bent Rhodesian

    Aldo Velani Smooth Dublin

    Duncan Bent Dublin

Falcon Rusticated Apple (Always wanted to try one of these)

Next on the list: Full size gourd calabash!

I like to smoke my pipe sometimes too. Those are some pretty nice pipes. That last ones pretty odd looking though. Do you order your pipe tobacco off the internet or just a local spot?

    I buy online mostly.

For the price of the average cigar I've been smoking lately, I can buy an ounce or two of quality pipe tobacco that will last several months.

Yeah I buy 2 ounces of a bunch of different kinds and I'm set. What site do you get yours from? I haven't really found one that I'm interested enough in buying from.

Very nice pipes, Dennis. That Velani is sweet! I have an old Falcon - with a Dimpled Apple bowl piece. Yours looks to be in great shape. I have yet to smoke from mine so I would like to know about your experience.

My buddy at my local B&M has been trying to get me into pipe smoking for a few months now. I have never actually tried it but I do love the smell of the smoke. Not to steal this thread but is there any basic Dos and Don'ts about pipe smoking?

I've been smoking my pipes a lot too, especially as the wife likes the smell of some of my pipe tobaccos. I smoke mostly Va / VaPer blends with some english blends as well. Another good site is:

I'll work on a thread of just such information this weekend!

I hear good things about smokingpipes.com, but I've never dealt with them personally

Really reasonable people to deal with. I got them to throw in a few free tins the last time I got an estate pipe. You need any help with a pipe how-to thread let me know. My current PAD is focused on the Nording Hunter Series.

Have you tried the Savinelli pipe tobacco? I really enjoy their cigars, is their pipe tobacco good as well?

I've never had any Savinelli tobacco, but I do have a nice little Savinelli churchwarden pipe that gets a lot of use.

Some of my favorite tobaccos are Samuel Gawith Squadron Leader, Best Brown Flake, and XX Black Twist, (very strong, rich tobacco), Davidoff Flake Medallions, Escudo, Penzance, Erinmore Flake, Frog Morton - On The Town, MacBaren Plumcake. McClelland Blackwoods Flake...

I don't do many aromatics, but I do have a bunch of Butternut Burley from pipesandcigars.com and some Boswell blends like Christmas Cookie that I'll hit every so often.

My wife got me a Savinelli pipe and a tin of their tobacco for Christmas last year, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I've only ever smoked two different blends so far though, so I don't have a lot to compare it too.

Ok, I scrounged up some more pipes from my Dad's basement. I think they were my grandfather's:
