Thread: Intro

  1. #1

    Default Intro

Hey everyone, my name is Jon and I'm in Tennessee. I've been smoking quality cigars now for about 4 years. Backwoods don't count I don't believe.

I have recently bought my first desktop humidor. Up until now I have just been using a travel herf-a-dor and buying sporadically for events, nothing real steady. It's time to step it up and get some permanent storage going.

Hope it's OK to drop the intro here, as I will have mainly humidor/accessory questions to begin with. Thanks.

    Howdy.

Get a cooler, some humidification beads and an el cheapo hygrometer, that's all you need.

How'd you get a "1" radio license if you're in Tennessee? Ya must be a relocated New Englander, LMAO!

My grandfather's was WB7RJV, and he would call it out in the radio alphabet - as a kid I always thought it sounded so cool... Whiskey Bravo 7, Romeo Juliett Victor.

Your screen name is KN1V3S with "Out" after it. Sure sounds like ham radio call letters to me. The third digit is a "1" which means if this is indeed your ham radio license number, it was issued to you when you lived in one of the six states in New England.

Maybe I've got it wrong and your screen name has nothing to do with your ham radio license.

Okay, let's start from the beginning, what's your screen name mean?

I'm guessing it's a tricky way to spell knives. Maybe he likes getting in knife fights.

    Regardless, welcome from MT.

Wow, I never thought of that. Now that I think about it, I don't think amateur radio license call letters ever have a number in the 5th position so hefty, you're probably right.

Hopefully the knife guy will clue us in.

Bump from way back. This guy is a friend of mine and is the one who originally suggested I look at this forum when I was getting started. It doesn't look like he ever answered what his name was all about and I know it has just been driving guys crazy. It's an odd spelling of a Radiohead song from Amnesiac called Knives Out.

He is a super cool dude, saw him tonight actually. He had a little bit of a health scare, sold me his smokes and humidor, and now he gets really nice smokes from me on a rare occasion for free. Not a bad deal for him I suppose.

For the sake of efficiency I'll just include Mr. Knife on the GreekTitan ban poll I've promised if the game he is referring to isn't Contra.
