Thread: JRcigars???

I've never had any of the JR alternatives, but have had a couple other JR's. One of my favorites is the JR Special Corona. (It's not a knock off, it's JR's own brand) They are not bad new, but let them sit in your humidor for a while, and it becomes an amazing smoke! I am still in grad school, so I don't have the finances to buy lots of good cigars, so I buy cheaper cigars (Like JR ultimates and special coronas) and age them. Eventually I spend a minimal amount of money on the cigars, and in some time, I end up with a humidor full of great great smokes. Anyways, JR Special Corona is definitely worth a try if you've never had one. Enjoy.

Unless, of course, you really want to - in that case, I will accept them, but I don't promise to send anything in return...

I order most (95%) of my stogies from JR and feel that I get 100%+ from their generic brands. Their service is efficent and quick to deliver, the stogies are #1 FOR THE PRICE,

    Go for it, RICK

I ordered some JR Cuban Alternatives recently (Punch Black Prince). I tried one late last week and it was terrible. I'm going to give it one or two more chances.

Lazy1, what was your take on the alts you ordered?

Hello All - I am new to the board and first of all, I appreciate all of the great info I have been able to read.

As for the JR alternatives, I do like Bkcloud said and keep some on hand as give-aways for my friends who don't generally smoke cigars, but will want one when they are at the house for a party or on the golf course or something. They are not great, but will do for those situations.

I had a second JR Alt to Punch Black Prince last week and it was much better than the first. I passed out a couple to some friends last night as we were enjoying a nice evening and they really liked them.

Well the hosebag that kept bugging me about JR Alts finally gave me one. I tried to smoke it, honestly, but now I know what a "dog rocket" is. The taste was offensively bad, the draw was very hard, after about five puffs I could take now more and stubbed it out and pitched it.
There's only two kinds of cigars, the kind you like and the kind you don't.
