Best advice, always buy bigger than you think you will need. You will fill up your first humi really fast.

When I first started, I was told endlessly to just buy a coolerdor (literally, an ice chest set up with humidity control). I remember there being a great sticky about how to set one up, but I can't seem to find it... Will edit if I do find it. As far as humidity, heartfelt industries makes beads that control humidity that are probably the best you'll find.

It sounds a bit extreme, but I wish I would have set one up when I started... I'm about to have to set one up shortly.

You will need some beads...This guy is reputable. He pretty much has all you need to start up a humidor or cooler.http://www.heartfeltindustries.com/

Coolers work great....and if you decide to go a different route, they'll keep your beer cold too.

I've got a humidor, and then I built a coolidor because I started outgrowing my humidor.

Save the money and just buy a cooler and build one. Spend that money that you saved on more smokes!

Amen to that one! Do yourself a favor and set up a coolidor for yourself... you won't be disappointed. Roger.

I would suggest for a first humidor get something that will hold at least 100 sticks or more then get a cooler for overflow.
A humidor rated to hold 100 sticks only holds around 70 or so cigars of various sizes. " get the largest you can to start with your going to out grow it fast".

Temperature control is very vital. The ideal temperature for a humidor is 65 - 70 degrees, You look for humidors that can maintain this temperature.

Ummmm....the vast majority of humidors don't have temperature control. They rely on the ambient temp of the room. That said, have a room that maintains temperature.

Ok, dudette. Again, there's an advertising section.

Also, show me one humi on your shameless second self promotion link that controls temperature.
