Having cigars shipped in the winter...

Does anyone take any steps before putting their freshly shipped cigars in the humidor? especially in the winter time?

I have had cigars shipped to be before and stuck them right in when I got them and they kind of swelled up and cracked at the foot.

I let them come up to room temp before I put them in the cooler.

yeah...I have a box of anejos under my sheets right now...so much waiting!!!!

I was wondering if some people slowly bring it up to RH before letting them 'rest' at 65 or 70 or wever.

I just throw them in, however they're usually at room temp, as my wife brings them in during the day, and they sit on my desk before I come home from work.

My cooler is the same temp as my home 68-F
out the truck, in the cooler.

Maybe its just my humi then...or the Canadian winter....

I usually keep my sticks at 70 but I purposely lowered it to 65 this month and will slowly bring it back up to 70. Hope it helps.
