    Information from Atlantic Cigar:
The Number 5 "Toro" is the latest vitola in the natural sun-grown Habano-Rosado wrapped My Father line. Weighing in at a healthy 6 x 56, this cigar is more of a Gordo size, closely approaching the currently very popular 6 x 60. The My Father line is handmade from tobaccos grown in the Garcia Family's farm, My Father Cigars, SA, in Esteli Nicaragua. A wonderfully complex blend of choice tobaccos gives way to an extremely flavorful, rich medium to full bodied smoke. Originally the My Father line was created by Don Pepin Garcia's son, Jaime, to honor his father. Since it's launch all sizes have received high acclaim and ratings from the cigar community.

    prelight taste:

badwhale: taste and scent were the same. Sweet leather and tobacco.
buzz: light cedar wood taste, not much else.
    craig: not much.
egq: very little. Slightly sweet, slightly woody.
irish79: nothing detected. Sweet tobacco on the prelight smell.
    logan37: woody.
    mangyrat: tobacco.
    memphisfred: just tobacco.
    mizicke5273: couldn't pick any out.
    nhab: nutty, some wood.
slcraiders: almost indifferent - lightly earthy...
tdre977: no real prelight taste to me.
    -------------------------------------------------------------

    taste (1/3):

badwhale: a little bitter. Some grassy notes and a slight twinge of leather. Medium body-ish. The flavor profile is not hitting real strong.
buzz: woody and nutty, great amount of smoke, slight hint of spice. Burn is nice and even and ash holds well. Mild-medium strength which is totally overpowered by the scotch. I thought this was going to be a full strength stick. Not bad though, just mild.
craig: bit of bite, has some saltiness - pretty freakin' boring - gagged on something that tasted foul within the first 1/4".
egq: very, very mild - pleasant but just not enough oomph.
irish79: cut & lit easily with cedar strips. I initially thought the prelight draw was too tight, but it has loosened up nicely after a couple of minutes. I'm tasting musky wood, oak like, some pepper. Pleasant.
logan37: on first light, i was hit with a nice blast of pepper. After that, the smoke was bland and a little bitter. There was a very slight hint of spice on the finish. I'm not getting any flavor at this point. The ash fell off on my shirt twice already.
mangyrat: started out good with a decent amount of smoke.
memphisfred: light up was easy, lots of smoke, very nice draw. Got a little uneven but it quickly recovered without touchup. Started off with a bitterness on tip of tongue but it didn't last long. Mostly a leathery taste, medium/full. First ash 2".
mizicke5273: note: One side of the foot wouldn't light, so i left it to itself. Light smooth creamy taste with varying hints of nuts and spice. Perfect burn at this point, even the trouble spot has corrected itself and is burning perfectly even. The ash is a nice light grey with some nice tooth to it. After about an inch, a slight earthy/woody flavor began to replace the nuts and spice flavors. After another ~1/2in. The spiciness began to reappear and pick up. At this point there is a very nice earthy/woody aftertaste when exhaling through my nose. At the ~2in. Mark, the creamy flavor had begun to pick up and become the dominate flavor and became smoother as well.
    nhab: chestnut, wood, some pepper.
slcraiders: woodsy with a slight spice - smooth, yet full of flavor.
tachycoventry: wow lots of smoke from this first third! Interesting taste on the nose exhale, a little spice with a "barnyard" flavor. Not a lot of taste, just a lot of bland smoke.
tdre977: earthy, a little spice on the back of the tongue, smooth.
    -------------------------------------------------------------

    taste (2/3):

badwhale: bitter and oily even with a few purges. Not a whole lot going on to me.
buzz: basically just wood. No spice and still very mild. Doesn't taste bad, but would have been better with a coffee or dr. Pepper. It's a big cigar, hogan will be tired at the end of this walk.
    egq: more of the same.
irish79: much of the same. Maybe i'm smoking it too fast, it's becoming harsher.
logan37: i'm getting anything from this cigar. Maybe, at most, a slight tobacco taste on the finish. Total air.
mangyrat: a little milder in the middle but still a good cigar.
memphisfred: lighter flavor starting into 2nd third but picked back up and got stronger again. I kept accidentally bumping it and knocking the ash off so it never got as long again.
mizicke5273: the spice began to pick up again as the dominate flavor, while the earthy/woody flavor has subsided almost completely. The cigar almost went out at the half way point. I purged it and touched up the burn a bit, so i was able to recover it before it went completely out. The creamy flavor reappeared. By then end of the 2nd part, the cigar has stabilized and the flavors became more constant.
nhab: mellows out. Not much pepper. Wood and smooth nutty taste.
slcraiders: light spice still there - now more leather than wood and getting just slightly bitter. Creamy with fantastic volumes of smoke!
tachycoventry: same bland taste on the smoke. I keep looking for any hint of spice or sweetness or anything unique. All i get is a very bland, almost barnyard taste. Still lots of smoke at least...
tdre977: earthy still, nutty and toasty, feeling a nic buzz at this point.
    -------------------------------------------------------------

    taste (3/3):

    badwhale: same as 2nd 3rd.
buzz: light, mild cedar wood. In a word: Boring. Too big too, with a cigar that doesn't change much it needs to be shorter.
egq: no real change or progression.
logan37: started off just as useless as the previous third. Then, all of a sudden, bam! It got worse. I'm getting nothing but tar. I punch cut it at first. I cut it again with my guillotine to cut off the tar. Two puffs later the tar came back. I cut back a little more, two puffs and more tar. I laid it down to die.
    mangyrat: finished off decently.
memphisfred: got some woodsy flavor going into the last third. Unfortunately i think that was due to the neighbor. I was outside and he was burning a fire in the fireplace so i think i was getting some his wood smoke & smell. Got a little uneven again but still probably due to being outside where it was more windy. I kept turning it and it evened out again.
mizicke5273: the 3rd part wasn't any real different, flavor wise, than the second. Though the cigar became harsher as the time went on and harder to keep lit. I had some burn issues at this point as well.
nhab: getting hot uneven burn. Woody.
slcraiders: very similar to the second third, but more flavor and a bit more bite.
tachycoventry: started to get a bitter taste in the beginning of the 3/3.
tdre977: some coco at the end, definitely feel the nicotine kickin' me in the gut, but the smoke didn't feel that heavy.

    last words:

badwhale: i'm gonna take you by the hand, and make you understand, amaaaaannnndaaaa!!!!
buzz: a good cigar, though lacking in the complex tastes. It's too mild to go with scotch, and would be a better morning smoke with coffee. I'll try out the robusto size.
craig: this is a cigar that would perhaps best be smoked with excessive amounts of excessively cold industrial 'lite' beer. It isn't an offensive cigar, so i didn't fail it - i'm sure some would like it. I didn't; i put it down after an inch.
egq: this would be a great morning smoke with some coffee. I like something a bit stronger in the evening, but a decent smoke nonetheless.
logan37: amanda is the girl you might take to the back seat of your 1992 chevy cavalier and then never tell your friends about. I only selected maybe for "smoke again" because, unfortunately, "poison" had two amanda's in it. I think that buzz is actually trying to poison me.
memphisfred: i was unfair to this smoke as i had to put it down and refire it twice due to having to leave on errands. I got close to nubbing it but not quite. I should have picked a better time to smoke it... Shrug, it is what it is. First ash managed to stay on for 2" before dropping and it was kinda a light flaky on the outer but was stacked tight inside the flake making me think of a double wrapper. The stick i think is a cusano 59 rare cameroon. I had one before and it reminds me of it. Don't have any access to cigarcyclopedia as they're now closed so i took a wild guess on price. I picked not to buy a box but would probably do a fiver, only due to the ring size... A little bigger than i normally like.
mizicke5273: this was a very good smoke with lots of complexity at the beginning and into the first half of the 2nd part. The burn issues i ran into are very typical for a cigar of this ring gauge; at least for me. The construction of the cigar is very similar to lfds. I really enjoyed this cigar on a sunday afternoon while grinding some xp and leveling my characters in crimson gem.
slcraiders: bigger vitola than what i usually smoke, but i really enjoyed this cigar start to finish...
tachycoventry: this tasted like a cheap cigar. It didn't have a lot of flavor but did smoke well enough. It put out a ton of smoke and that is the only redeeming quality. This wouldn't be a bad golf course cigar actually because if i forget it or pitch it, i wouldn't feel bad.
tdre977: haven't really been smoking a lot lately, plus i'm still a total newb, so at the risk of sounding like an ass i'm going to say this was a higher priced stick. Definitely enjoyed it. I just hope i'm not talking out my ass.

    EDITOR’S NOTE:
These cigars were purchased from Atlantic Cigar Company (www.atlanticcigar.com). They ran a one-day special on them for $169.99 (box of 23). The cigars came very nicely packaged in a hinge-top box. The lowest box price from the December 2010 CigarCyclopedia's Comparison Shopper is $234.50, coming out to $10.20 per stick. The average price guess was $6.50. The closest guess for this round belongs to slcraiders! Remember, the prize pack goes to the person who is closest overall (all 5 cigars). Here are the current standings:

    | PARTICIPANT:... | OFF BY |
    | slcraiders .... | $ 0.11 |
    | EGQ ........... | $ 1.98 |
    | nhab .......... | $ 1.98 |
    | Mizicke5273 ... | $ 2.77 |
    | Irish79 ....... | $ 4.12 |
    | Mangyrat ...... | $ 4.12 |
    | MemphisFred ... | $ 4.12 |
    | Tdre977 ....... | $ 4.31 |
    | logan37 ....... | $ 5.04 |
    | badwhale ...... | $ 6.68 |
    | Daigz ......... | $ 6.68 |
    | craig ......... | $ 8.00 |
    | Alcibiates .... | $10.20 |
    | heftysmokes ... | $10.20 |

Good luck with the next round guys! Here's a hint: The sleeping polar bears dream about hot-air balloons

God. I just bought one of these on Friday saying "I haven't tried one of these yet."

    Obviously, others' mileage varied.

That cigar was MSRP'd near $10? Doesn't seem to have $10/cigar consistency - or maybe we're inconsistent!

    Good choice!

Wow scratch that as a golf course cigar for $10!!! I guess that when I think $10 stick I am normally getting something more full flavored.

Didn't taste like the other My Father sticks that I've had either, they've always had a lot more spice

Ah Shit! If I knew there were going to be hints, I wouldn't have smoked them so soon. I'm on #4(Dawn) right now.

I'm with Daigz on this one. DPG missed me on this one. I've had the belicoso My Father and enjoyed it. Don't know why this one was so off. Well, I have another. Maybe it was a dud.
